here was the reply

Run away.

Cast wedges means thin wall tube (not the 1/2" wall tube like other years) and no axle tube inside the cast wedges. This means no narrowing, not as strong, and you have to run the ford radius arms. '77 was the last good year of the F150 D44's, 78-79 had the cast wedges, and 80 went to TTB.
