headed up 70 this weekend I was running from where it hovers at about 160 on the stock gauge to around 210-220, since it wasn't that hot today I'm thinking it might be time for a new radiator... unless your's are doing the same.

I like to run it pretty cool (it's a renix) :wierd:
everything else is new, hoses, t-stat, t-stat housing, waterpump, the radiator in it seems to be about 3 years old, I have the receipt from the PO. If I ever get the new engine in I'll sure want it nice and cool too.

Normal operating temperature for the 4.0L is 210º.I've got a 3-row radiator and 185º t-stat and even wheeling in 120º heat in Moab it runs 210º-220º.

210 is awfully close to the imposing red line :)

I guess you're right, I'll leave well enough alone. Thanks dude.
afterall I was loaded down with the GF, 120 lbs of dogs, and probably 500lbs of camping gear and going up to the tunnel in third at 60.

most stock 97+ XJ run at 200 to 210. Mine runs about 205 to 210 no matter what. Be it driving over the pass's of I-70 or going around town. Thats just how they are.

My 91 runs about 195-210 on the highway depending on traffic............

I was actually off a tick, 210 sits vertical on mine, then an unmarked tick, then the upper end is... I can't rememeber, anyway it was running closer to 225-230 on the passes then pulling back to 160-165 on the level. All of which is probably moot but there you go.

Mine runs around 200-210 while wheelin'. I've got hood vents and run the AC fan. Cooler than that on the hwy. I noticed the vents really help out, but now I have 2 big holes for water to leak in...
