Man if book were written it sure would have saved me a lot of problems.

Wouldn't it would be great if this site could have a section devoted to "instructions" for certian tasks. Just think how many fewer searches you would have to do. I love this site and have learned a lot, but everything I have learned has come at the expence of countless hours of searching and starting new threads (I worry about wearing out my welcome).

If someone had the basic steps for lifting to 3in, 4.5in 6in, etc that would be awesome. I don't mean every step for installing "shocks", but just "install longer shocks" "check driveline angles" "modify break lines" etc.

Then list some potential problem associated with lifting to a given height. I know you couldn't list everthing that could go wrong, but you could put up a list of posibitlites then people might be able to head off potential problems. I think I have wrecked a few expensive parts just because I didn't know that certian things had to be done during the lifting process.

There are definately some very knowledgable people on this site and I am greatful for their time and willingness to share. Wouldn't it be great if we had a section with their "instructions" for use to review?

What do you think?

a very good site to look at is Ed Steven's writeup http://members.aol.com/Stvns/XJhelp1.html . From this point you go on and you have to use your head. After poking around on the forums, you most likely have found out (or will find out) that there is no set rule or guideline to follow. Not only each XJ is different but also each person's needs, desires, budgets are different.

That is why this site is here :D so that you can search the posts, make some decisions and then ask questions :D

I started awhile back to write the definitive "XJ Bible."

However, I have stopped work on the project. While I can address issues affecting stock and mildly lifted/modified XJs, a "Bible" needs to be complete and all-encompassing. So many people are going beyond what I consider to be the limit of what an XJ is "supposed" to be (multi-purpose, good at everything great at nothing) that I don't have the knowledge/experience to write about them, and I don't have any interest in learning enough about them to write knowledgeably about hugely modified vehicles.

There is a lot of excellent information available right here on the NAXJA forums, available through the SEARCH button and a bit of patience to read it all.
