how strong is a super d30?

no hes running the stock axles with 3.55 gears, we just put in the aussie locker and some ebay cv shafts, we were trying to break them just to see if they last but they havent yet, we also havent put it on pavement as that will just destroy them,, the nice thing about cv's is that if they break you can still drive with them in

just get some alloy shafts, dont waste your money on the super 30 kit

If you are already buying a locker and alloys .. its the same cost. How is that wasting money?

cv's are about 150 for a set. well worth it imo

What brand? What material?

I'm pretty sure you cant *make* a quality axle shaft for that cost.. :)

Getting off topic here...But i must ask.

Ive never seen cv shafts available for cherokee dana 30's. I think Grand cherokees (wj) have them. But even so, arnt cv joints weaker then the good old u joints? How about upgraded u-joints?

NOOB

haha jk

they came stock in older xjs! i used to have one

he got the cv's off ebay about 2 months ago, in the pics above you can see the box they came in, ill get a link, two other guys with xj (one with 34ltbs and an aussie went to cv, and one with 35 mud terrains and a lock right also went to cv's, mine is next on the list to get cv's when i put in my locker,

cv's are the same stregth as regular joints but they are not weaker when applying pressure when turning, most axle shafts snap when turning and using the skinny pedal,

another alternative is to weld the ujoint caps right to the axle shaft, if it is done properly with a good welder the ears wont break of like it normally happens you will just twist off the splines

the one guy with 34" ltbs and a locker did this last weekend, and we put my brothers spare cv's in

here
mail

ill take my setup over the cv revolution any day. yall boys are prolly runnin stock steering and stock gears with lunchboxes

I'm up in Baldwin near 50 and Brandy Branch, about 20-30 miles West of downtown. So I guess you could say I'm closer to Macclenny than I am Jax. You'll often see me out at Mayport/NASJax or on the trails out my way. We go to Ocala about three times a month or so since I'm working 5 on/4 off (nights) now. Gives me a lot of time to wheel in the daylight. ;)

I've seen maybe four lifted XJs around Jax. One is blue on 33s, one is copper on 33s or 32s, a black XJ on 39" boggers with stock axles, and one white one with 5.5" RE lift and black procomp wheels with 35s.

The only person I know personally with an XJ around here is moving to TN (he has a sick XJ on 44s with 15" lift) and he introduced me to a guy who is running a maroon XJ with 37" boggers and waggy 44s (forest ranger out in Bryceville) just recently who goes by the name "BigOleXJ" on this forum. That guy has a really nice rig.

Hey bro!

Saw the other thread where you got raped for talking about the new mud truck. Let's get together and head out to SE. We can get Bill out there in the Bronco too. Just got a D60 to replace the busted 44. :peace:
