Same style as tge fuel qd's, I got a pair of the scissor type, dont trust the plastic type

Oh right, you close them and they basicly wrap a short tube around the line and you press it in to release the locking clips?

yes that will do it.

Or just cut the quick connect off and reattach using hose clamps. That connection will leak one day, so might as well fix it now.
