I am looking to lift my 2000 xj sport I already am running a rough country 3 inch lift with new front coils and add a leaf in the back. I want to add another 2-3 inchs in spacer lift in the front and shackles in the back but I am worried about my driveshaft falling out. For a 6 inch lift on 32inch tires is this something I need to worry about?

Thank you!!

I have 6in with 33s and a lot of ppl complain its too tall... I like the amount of travel I get...

On topic though, if you're still running a slip-yoke, you're pretty close to max I believe... I ran a 3in lift on my 99 and when I finally went SYE, I had maybe 1/4in of engagement on the shaft...

Rann 3" 33's used up 10" shocks and easily could of ran 12's current setup is 5" and 42's with 12" shocks and could use 14" shocks if. I likes, 5" is to tall for 32's and 6" is way tall for 33's

Going over certian obsticles, I still rub/cut tires... And with the b.s. rims, Bilsteins, OME leafs, and TnT coils, its sturdier than its ever been... I guess to each their own...

Sorry to hijack.... But like I said earlier, you may want to consider adding an SYE and driveshaft to the list before you lift it any higher...

you will prolly need the sye or a hack-n-tap style sye.

3" is about pushing it for the stock driveshaft.

My 3 inch was fine shocks will limit flex i ran a 6 in with the slip yoke an had horrible dl noise but once you start to lift it first thing your going to change is shocks an that track bar it doesnt like lift over 3 in

I had both an 89 & 94 with 4.5" & 32's I never had an issue with dropping the driveline. I might have been lucky though. My 93 is 6.5 and I did install a SYE. I dont worry about it now.

I ran into u-joint binding at 3.5" (fwiw)... Tire size is irrelevant to driveline angles.

if you have a 95 or older xj theres 2 options, if you have a auto you can get a 5spd crossmember wich has a 5/8" drop in it, or find a YJ slip yoke there slighty longer then a xj and have more room around the ears so you can get away with more angle before binding(you can also do the crossmember deal with a 97+ auto)

and 99SJ_Ex theres these things called bumpstops that keep your tires out of your fenders

Wtf are bumpstops?

And brakelines are limit straps.

Kman...Are you running a t-case crossmember drop or an SYE? Adjusted pinion angle at all?

OP...I would recommend a SYE over 3" or so. Pinion shims can aid in keeping your stuff together. As far as length goes, Idk where it's going to get too short. I just went to the front shaft style with the SYE.

I'm sure this method would be the most advised.

I am at 5.5"lift on stock DS. Its never fallen off.

OP has a 00, IIRC yours is a older one. they be different yo. the drive lines tend to vibrate on the late models more for what ever reason.

Neither. Did the same thing on a 6.5"lift on my 01. I have a h&t on the bench.

Dont get me wrong the amount of engagement is not alot. But it works.

mine is sitting in the tool box!

i changed my mind. OP do the extra lift and worry about the drive shaft later. ;)
