How long for a drive shaft?

I have a question about a driveshaft I'm having made. I won a driveshaft off pirate through JE Reel in Dec. Which I thought was really cool and appricate. Great now I can go ahead and get my SYE done and crossmember remounted. So I torn into the Jeep and got everything done, called up JE Reel and said I had the gift certificate and how to redeem it. So they said to mail it in with the measurements, ect and it would get done. Ok so I did that and hadn't heard from them in a couple days so called today. In which I was told that it would be atleast two weeks before it was done. Two weeks? "Yeah there's lots of other people in front of you."

Well I'm unsure here, as it seems that a long time for a driveshaft and I sort of got the feeling that since I was getting a discounted/free shaft I'm gonna have to wait for it. Well ok, I can see not wanting to kick a paying customer out of line as I'm not paying for mine, but at the same time this is my DD and 2 weeks is quite awhile to wait. I wouldn't have torn into the bottom of the Jeep if I knew it was gonna take that long. I've already been out a vehicle for over a week, another two weeks is gonna suck. I was under the impression that it would only be a couple days turn around. I mean the local shop could do it the same day and I know they are busy, and Jess from HAD has a very quick turn around time as well.

so what are your thoughts. I'm not sure what to think, sorta ticked but not sure if I should be.

If you've got the SYE in just run it in front wheel drive (Put it in 4x4). I wouldn't exactly be making any big trips but I would use that to get to work...

ok, well I was doing that and wondering if it's ok. Can feel it binding and when turning into a corner the wheels almost go straight to lock. And there some sligh vibes as the front up bounces up and down a bit, but if it's ok, then I won't worry about it.

Well things will feel a little different with steering since they're the drive wheels now but I'd give everything a good check over to make sure it's all good. How are the joints in the driveshaft?

Also how about the U-joints in the Axle Shafts have you checked them recently?
Easy way to check is to jack the Front end up turn the steering wheel to lock, and try and turn your tire by hand. If it is hard to turn or the wheel tries to turn back straight your Axle joint is bad.

Did you get a HD SYE?

Just put the front shaft in the rear until you get the new shaft.

hmm, thats a good idea. I would need the flange output for the front right? It's the PORC SYE with the HD shaft but has the yoke style output. Great now this has turned into tech in the non-tech, oopps. lol

Nope you need the yoke, not the flange.

I'm running the PORC SYE with the front shaft.

You will be fine with what you have.
