How "Jeep" made my bad day better...

...so I get to work @ 7:30AM, tired & grumpy, 'cause my baby daughter is in her own time zone, realize my shirt is on backwards, spend ALL DAY in a training class, get back to my desk to find a trouble ticket for a fire alarm circuit, all the technicians I supervise disappear, decide to fix it myself, made 2 return trips to the office because I first forgot my tools, then my keys, spend 5 hours troubleshooting, half of that time on my belly in crawl spaces, finally fix it and get home around 10:30 PM.

Then my wife hands me a bag with 2 new "Jeep" hats, and 2 "Jeep" shirts.

Man, I love her...

NICE!!!!!!!

Looks like we might hit spruce pond for a cook out on Saturday if you can break loose..... gonna see how bad the snow still is up there too.

Sounds good...I'll see what I can do. I've been volunteered to take my mother-in-law car shopping. There's bound to be an XJ out there just calling her name.

If I show up, I'll be the guy in the new Jeep hat. :jester:

I guess I never thought of it that way...:dunce:...she got me again!

Always ask, "What's the catch?" I've been married less than 3 years and already have that much figured out.

Like the Soviets used to say... "Trust but verify."

This has been pretty fun waiting to see what replies would come up next...It's all good though. I actually offered it up at the beginning of the week...just didn't think she would be ready so soon.

She pulls into the driveway Monday afternoon, and asks me if I could listen to her Jimmy ('93, 187,000 miles, pos). All I could say was, "Oh boy".

hehheh, regardless of whether it's a bribe or not it's a nice gift, a GMC JImmy with 187k.....how'd it last so long? 'specially in the salt belt... :laugh3:

You've got me...it's not like it's well taken care of either. She has me change the oil when she remembers (usually around 10000 mi.), replaces parts when they fall off, darn thing is like a Timex.

lol..... I had an 86 s-10 two door blazer with a 2.8 even though it was a gawd awful pos, it would run no matter what, and served me as a "station car" even after I flopped it on its side twice....... The winter that I got my xj, I let it sit for almost a month and a half, the damned thing started right up after sitting. made it all the way to the tow truck to take it away.... :laugh3:

I had an 82 S10 with the 2.8L, that truck lasted me over 680,000mi before I sold it, kid that bought it drove it for another 2 years or so. Had 12 complete sets of Sears gas shocks under their lifetime warranty as well as the brakes. I'm probably the reason sears stopped offering that stuff... :laugh3:
If I had not tried to fix the oil leak in the back of the intake manifold which broke a whole bunch of crap loose tha blocked my oil pickup I never would have had to replace the crank 2x in 3 days at 650,000mi...

Sounds like I need to enroll in the RichP School of Automotive Maintenance. If I could get 680,000 miles out of my XJ, it would last me another 60 years!!!

I was in field service back then, got paid .23 a mile, territory covered from pittsburgh Pa on the west to grumman aircraft out in calverton LI on the east, down to Cape may NJ and up to watertown NY. 500 mi a day was average and all hiway. Other than 6 windshields, 3 radiators, 2 alternators, 1 water pump, 3 batterys, belts, oil n filters, tires, plus 3 radios and a rear pintle seal I never put anything in it. Engine , clutch, tranny and rear were all original, oh, ball joints one time. That truck turned me a tidy profit for the ~10-12 years I owned it..
