How does this work ?

.... I admitted to occasionally texting while driving. I didn't say I drove with my head up my ass.

Is there a difference? Not trying to be an ass but I can't stand TXTing while driving.

I stole my wife's bluetooth ear piece and use that. If someone is in the XJ with me I'll let them read and reply to TXTs, if no one is with me, well then I'm not reading it till I get to were I'm going.

I'm actually going based off your defense of it. Trying to paint the restriction of it as an infringement on your rights somehow. It's not your right or anybody else's to purposely distract yourself and possibly cause an accident.

Would you be for playing PSP while driving?

A PSP is different, that requires your constant attention, with texting I can ready a message at a light or stop sign and then reply without even looking at the phone, i have the keys memorized.

Actually, one does have the right to do dangerous and stoopid things. They also are supposed to have the responsibility to suffer those consequenses(sp?). I know some one is going to say that they don't have the right to endanger someone elses life by distracting them selves while hurtling them selves at 80mph. Don't kid yourselves. Your life is already in danger hurtling youself even at a "safe" speed. Just my$.02. We have the right to be wrong. You also had the responsibility to suffer your choices. Not any more thanks to liberal acceptance of laziness and stupidity.

No you don't. Ever been ticketed for reckless endangerment? It's a fancy term for driving like an idiot and risking other people's lives. It's "stoopid" and dangerous to go swerving through traffic at 20 mph above what they're all doing, and it's not allowed by law. Try it in front of a cop and you'll be hit with a reckless endangerment ticket.

Camaro, Texting while stopped is not texting while driving. While most laws ban it even while the vehicle is stopped at a red light or stopsign, obviously you won't hurt someone by texting while the vehicle is stopped. And I've tried the whole "keys memorized" bit before. Still takes concentration. Your eyes may still be on the road but your brain is now on the phone. As was said, if you must send a message, pull off to the side. That's what I do now. That's what a lot of people on base do. Some are still stupid and try to talk/text while driving, but there's a growing number I see stopped on the shoulder with a phone to their ear.

We made it illegal in Phoenix back in '07. Whats taking you all so long to realize that texting and driving is a VERY BAD THING?
But the majority people in the Phoenix metro area can't even manage to drive, let alone drive while doing anything else. Some of the behavior I've seen on the road around here, it's kind of surprising that these people don't forget to breath and pass out if they try to check the rear view mirror while making a lane change.
