FWIW, my buddy's rear coil popped out on his ZJ. He had it on a highlift, it slipped and damn near took his hand off. Either Find a way to retain the coil, or limit strap and bumpstop it. Tons of flex is great for an RTI ramp but in a trail situation its just not safe to have the coils damn near fall out every time you flex. Call me a nut swinger, big meanie or whatever but I'm speaking the truth here.

A buddy was working on a blazer, he had the rear axle on jack stands with no other support and he was replacing the leafs.... Well, he zipped bolt out from the leaf spring, while the jacks where under the axle, Nearly killed him. He said the leaf shifted but stuck itself enough to keep the blazer still supported while he got a jack under the body.

I asked later what did he thought was supporting the weight of the truck once the leafs were out, no answer.

I'm not personally offended. I'm trying to get across the point that sometimes people on this forum (intentionally or not) come off as nut swingers and that it can discourage others from supporting the forum.

While there has certainly been lighthearted, good-natured humor, there has also been some straight a-hole, elitist garbage that was uncalled for. And why on earth would I pay to be ridiculed in a non-constructive way from a bunch of internet tough dudes?

I get what you are saying - some threads get out of hand quickly and I don't like that either. However, I don't see that this thread has reached that threshold, not even close...at best I give this thread a 3/10. This has generally been light-hearted, with an OP that knows the right answer but won't believe it.

That being said, if the OP comes back and keeps defending his original opinion (that nobody else agrees with), this thread could certainly get to a 7/10. But its not even close yet. IMO, this is the wrong thread to complain about. If this is the thread that causes people to not want to be members - I feel bad; but not that bad.

Reminds me when I took the rear dshaft out on a hill and almost got ran over. I also wondered how I was able to get it loose with all the weight on it similair to that case. Anyway I shot out the side on a creeper at about 10mph instead of getting squished, then mercilously tried to open the door but rear ended the neighbors car, which rear ended the jeep. Wish I was still a punk and had the doors off so i could have jumped in.

Yea we haven't even started talking about his sister yet. (Reference to a Pirate thread)

I swing my nuts quite regularly. It helps to air them out.

and I still pay up every year! :D

You did what?

Oh! Wait a minute,..... that applies to me,..... Never mind. Carry on.

There is a reason why a lot of "members" have went black...

This thread is one of them. Is all the flaming really necessary? Take your interweb tough guys acts over to Pirate.

I feel the phrase internet tough guy is being somewhat devalued here. Unless someone is threatening violence, it isn't really "internet tough guy"...

Also, every time I have seen a forum where the enforced atmosphere is "evrywun be nice and say nice things about each other lastara" I have seen it get taken over by simpletons, idiots, dumbasses, ignorant gravynecked hicks and total retards all saying nice things about each other's terrible ideas and fab work. That is why I stay off jeepforum, cc, and cherokeeforum, just too much niceness and dumbassery. Bad ideas need to be met head on with facts, evidence, and experience or they will spread even further and faster than they do otherwise.

Don't like being told you are wrong bluntly and having some jokes made at your expense? Don't be wrong (and stubborn), or grow a thicker skin.

Ive been behind the scenes of cherokeeforum since the beginning, and thought the family friendly overmoderating mindset was effing retarded. Ive been saying they need to loosen up for years. Just now the other mods are realizing this (or so it seems). Maybe some things will change over there before that place turns 100% to shit.

and on another note. Even 5 years ago, if you wanted a place to talk about xjs, you had Jeepforum and Naxja. Then cherokeeforum popped up, then every kid with a computer and 2 years of high school education under their belt wanted to start an internet forum. now we have 8000 cherokee sites.:paperwork
