How about these subwoofer enclosures?

Well, as much as I want to find a great enclosure that fits perfectly in the back of the XJ, I can't wait. So, I have been searchinga and searching to find the perfect options for good sound, saving space, and ease of use.

What I have found is this:

Infinity Basslink T

or

Infinity Basslink II

or

MTX SUV sledgehammer

or

Pioneer SUV Shallow Sealed Enclosure

which is paired with this:

Pioneer Premier Shallow Sub

I used to be a huge basshead and lowrider boy back in the day, so I know what real bass sounds like and I'm not looking for that. Just looking for some good low end fill with the occasional body tremor ;)

Let me know what you all think and if you have any real world experience.

If you used to bump as much as you say, how come you don't know more about enclosures?

That Basslink looks like it's plastic, so it probly won't hit very hard.

MTX is good stuff, but that box is for more shallow spaces.

If I were you, I'd build a standard square box with no ports. I have a 10" Eclipse sub running 250W RMS and if I turn it up with my techno mix in, I can make my hang tag nearly spin. Don't buy a shallow sub if you really want bass. They are OK if you just listen to rock, but if you ever wanna thump, forget it. Don't get me wrong, some can bump, but most lose the extra drive.

What I said was, I didn't want the huge bass anymore and just wanted that deep end fill and the occasional big boom. If you would do your homework and actually test one out, you would see that those things are amazing for their size and produce very solid sounds with very little distortion. And the whole point of what I said is that to not take up space. If I wanted to fill my back with 4 JL 15"s I would, but that would be pointless because I use my Jeep for offroading and need the space for tools.

Minimize space, good fill, easy to use, less expensive...that's the criteria.

Ah, I missed the part about saving space, but even so- a standard square box will fit fine. They aren't large and you can get what you are looking for. If you are looking for the occasional low end and big boom, I still don't think you'd get it with a shallow box. Maybe if you ported it, but still, a Jeep is a big open space, so you can't get as much thump as you would in a trunk.

If you want minimal space taken up, good fill, ease of use, and low expense, just look on Crutchfield or some place similar for a single sub truck box. A single 12" should give you good enough lows I'd imagine.

With that said and using your choices given, I'd go with the Pioneer unit.
 
a jeep really isnt that big. and theres no wall between the sub and u (such as in a trunk). i used to have an infinity g20 and was running 2 pioneer 10's, then i got my jeep and am only running one of them purely becaust it was too loud. the box is kind of large, but i can still fit everything in. i would go for sound over space saving. and if u really need the space, you can always take them out (i usually like to be able to hear my spotter anyways wen im wheeling). its all up to u. go with wat u think will be best for you. good luck
 
What about the select increments pod to go in the "storage" bump out on the back pass side. It is for a 8in sub and you can buy them with a 8" pyle sub already installed for $135.00 Look for it at Four wheel drive hardware, 4wd.com Thats what im gona buy just enough bass not to much.

Those enclosures are pretty cool if you don't want mega bass. Sooner or later I'm going to try and build a box for that area.
 
All you need is the set up I have (1)12'' Treo ssx and a 1000 Watt Zapco amp thats really about 1500 Watt compared to any other brand(ie)R.F.,Infinidy,and kicker and the said thing is that around 85% of all speaker and assesory companys are no longer (made in the US).For the box thats easy make a tool box(out of MDF)The entire size of the cargo area and then make a small section of it like 16 inches on either side the box by boxing it in port it and you will have loud boom and great varity.

My local Circuit actually had all the Infinity basslinks hooked up and a bazooka tube. All were self amped and the Infinity's sounded great while the Bazooka did not.

Have also heard great things about the Audiobahn tubes.

Most of these things will hook right up to your head unit, but depending on your unit you will either need an inline filter or a clean good preamp signal.

this one is bulky, but with two infinity 1232w subs and the PG XS2500 amp, it will damn near pop the rear window out of my xj.

They hook up just like an external amplifier, RCA's to the head unit normal wires to power and ground and remote turn on also has a wired remote volume that can be run up to the front to turn the volume of the sub up and down. I have a friend that has the 8" in his sons cherokee,10" in his daughters stratus and the 12" in his sebring and they all sound very good.
I should mention that all the wires are in a harness that has a plug on it very easy to unplug the tube and remove it if you need the space.
 
Why don't you build yourself an enclosure (it can be done well in under an hour if you are a hard worker - 5 hours if you drink) and you can save a ton of money, and ensure a good/perfect fit.

Bass tubes are nothing compared to a good bass box. Easy to install/remove, yes, but there is no comparison.

I had a 1000 WRMS (rated) Fosgate amp hooked up to two Alpine 12s (the low-end models) in a box purchased from Circuit City, around 1.25 cu. ft. for each woofer. That s*** was SO f****** loud, and barely took up any room. My point? Get yourself some REAL speakers, maybe only one, with about 500 Watts RMS behind it, and you'll be more than satisfied, plus you'll have plenty of room for your tools/etc. You are going to need something to secure the box with though - offroading with a bass box tends to break the box apart, even well-constructed ones.

And that looks just like the stealth box that they discontinued for the XJ do you folks think it would fit in the XJ? And do you think I'd be able to get it w/out a speaker?

They never made a stealth box for the XJ, it was a vantage box. And if the ZJ box fit the XJ box, then that one would be discontinued too now wouldn't it?
 
i have a box made for the driver side, where the spare tire goes, if you are running a spare tire on the roof or somethng then i could sell you this box, it kicks ass and it has three pioneer 10" subs in it i can send pic's threw email just PM me for the email address
 
I used to be big in having huge bass in my car also and have changed to exactly what you want. I have 2 10" Alpine type R's. They don't require you to buy a huge amp since their max RMS is like 300. I have about 125 RMS going to each and it sounds really clean. I think for each speaker it only required 1 cubic foot of space, so that's a pretty small box. The recommended box was a sealed on that also gives a cleaner bass sound than a ported one. If I were to do it again I would probably get just one 10" and an amp that put out 200-300 rms. 10"s are good because they are able to keep up with the music much better and I think they give a cleaner sound.
