1. Congress generally reflects the leadership of the president. Hence...crappy president=crappy congress. Currently the house would get a poor rating at best. While abysmal would be a better description of our traveling buffoon king and sunstroked senate.

2. You’ve got to be joking….right! Nothing good has come from this congress or Whitehouse in…….???? The only thing good that will come will be their exit.

3. Congress is supposed to pass good legislation. The president is supposed to be the one determining whether legislation becomes law or gets a veto. The current fool and previous three did not veto squat in the bad laws department.

4. These goons have one Modus Operandi…..me me me me. The time to ban lobbying is NOW!

5. This is laughable…..of course they are corrupt. Why else would an individual spend millions for a chance at a job that pays a couple of hundred thousand a year.

A 90% world population reduction would solve all these problems.

Bring on Armageddon. (yes, I'm serious)

Eye opening read on the Balanced Budget Amendment - Senate House Resolution 10

You can not responsibly support a proposed Amendment to Our Constitution unless you have read and understand the proposal and how it would change our Constitution. You must look behind the nice sounding name! Will the Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) really “reign in” the federal government? Will it really “show them” that they have to balance their budget the same as we do?

Or does it actually legalize spending which is now unconstitutional? Is it actually a massive grant of new constitutional powers to the President and the federal courts - a grant which will cut the Heart out of The Constitution our Framers gave us?

Amending the Constitution is serious business - and you are morally bound to get informed before you jump on The Amendment Bandwagon.
So, lay aside your giddy joy at the fact that all 47 U.S. Senate Republicans are co-sponsoring the Balanced Budget Amendment, Senate Joint Resolution 10 (March 31, 2011). Let’s go through it. What you believe the BBA will do, and what it will actually do, are two very different things indeed.

Because this site isn't in bed with the US Socialist Progressives.......

On that note, how much is US politics followed outside the states?

But of course republicans seem to ignore minor details like this when spouting about "overtaxed" corporations in this country.
What a joke they are.

Haven't you figured it out yet? ALL politicians, regardless of party, are vampires on the American people. There is not one single politician in the House or Senate that is not on the dole of some major corperation. Until special interest groups and lobbyists are banned from the Hill, this country will continue it's down hill slide.

You seem to think that it's "Republicans" vs "Democrats"

Let me clue you into something, there's not any difference between the two. They will pander and sell themselves to the highest bidder regardless of party affiliation.
They will trample our rights and promote class warfare in order to keep power.

One day when everyone wakes up and realizes this we might actually be able to take back our country.

until then, I'll sit on my stash of supplies and wait for the inevitable.

" Politics in America today is like pro wrestling... It's show business! "

- Jesse Ventura

The four previous posts, except Rich P 's post, I completely agree with. (Jesse was my Gov. awhile back. Love the guy.) Politics in America is a game politicians play to keep us distracted from what they are really doing.
Divide and conquer is the goal. As long as people like us are arguing repub vs dem, they have us right where they want us. As long as we are fighting, we can't pay attention to what they are doing. We fight, all lose.
I'd say the politicians are pretty good at keeping us distracted.
I know I post alot slamming repubs, but that is a personal characteristic. I have my reasons. And you guys have yours. Peace out.:sunshine:

I know what you are getting at. Hike prices to reflect tax increase.
A little Euro type legislation would quickly take care of that problem.

We are not euro, or why stop there, lets get rid of congress, the senate and the white house and start a parliament and elect a king.
Any taxes you put on a corporation will be passed on to their customers, end of story, I don't care what type of legislation you come up with, get too draconian and they just move out of the hostile area and that is what has happened over and over again to the tune of millions of jobs.

You think government is the solution, I think government is the problem and it is becoming a bigger problem every year.

Why do you want so badly to make us into the EU? Haven't you seen where that's gotten those countries? They are all mired in debt, Greece has collapsed, Spain, Ireland and Italy are in danger of default.

Following the path of Europe will not solve our problems.

I have seen where it has gotten them. Citizens are generally happier than here in the US, even with higher taxes. Don't believe me? Read here.

firstly I am skeptical about anything the huffingtonpost has to say, just like you likely are of anything on Fox News.

Secondly, happiness has no bearing on running a country. Sure they're happy, right until their country goes bankrupt. Ask the citizens of Greece how happy they are right now. Take a look at the huge amounts of deficit the rest of the EU is racking up. They are on a path to fiscal meltdown, even with 60%+ taxes.

You need to focus less on making people happy through government, and more on getting government out of the way of peoples happiness. It is not a governments responsibility to make sure you are happy and taken care of, it's your own responsibility and as more people become dependent on government that fact has gotten lost.

The Bill of Rights doesn't guarantee that you are happy, just says that every person has the right to pursue their own happiness free of government being in their way, right now the government is in impeding my pursuit of happiness.

thirdly, why should the rich have to foot my bill? Wealth redistribution through taxes is decidely un-American. If you recall we fought a small war over unfair tax practices. WOuldn't you consider taxing one individual more than another unfair? Aren't we all supposed to be equal?

Why are you so oppsed to the reduction of government? Government produces nothing of tangible value, nothing to be resold, nothing to add to our overall economy. In short, we should have as little of it as possible.
