turned out pretty friggin good... had some fab buddies that owed me a favor. total cost (just hardware and outter pipe) was around $50

All 3/16 material.

They look pretty good, almost identical to AJ's but for rock rails there's not to many things that can be done different.
 
The pinch seam strip I used is the whole length of the pinch seam. (3/16). I'm still worried about something hitting down on them and ripping out the holes in the pinch seam. but it seems solid enough.

I looked at alot of rails before I cut the material. I think all you can do is put in more mounting holes to strengthen the hold. Which is why I wanted the entire pinch seam to be able to mount 6 or 8 spots.

you can see the "frame" mounts are angle so it can bolt in and Up from underneath. I think its a good design. We'll see how they hold up when I get them out to RC.
