wow of all the mods he never replaced the cylinder head on that. Its a 2001 cherokee. He his selling essentially a 16k time bomb.

Since I'm tired of the "OMG 0331s are a ticking timebomb LOL" statements that've been becoming popular of late, let's do some math here:

Going with the generally-accepted numbers of 165,590 XJs having been built in 2000 and 120,454 in 2001 (source), that's a total of 286,044 XJs built in the 0331 era. All 2001s had the 4.0 - and while I don't have the breakdown of 4-cylinder models vs. 6-cylinder in terms of production numbers for 2000, I'll assume that two-thirds of production in that year were 6-cylinders. This gives us a total of 109,289 4.0s in 2000, bringing the adjusted total of 0331-head XJs to 229,743.

Being generous here, I'm going to say that five percent of that number have experienced head failure or are going to. That's a total of 11,487 vehicles falling into that category.

Does it suck if you get one that dies? Yes.

Are all 0331 heads going to explode? No, but if they do we've got a great foundation for a recall or class action.

autophreak: don't take any of this as a personal attack, since it most certainly isn't one. But I'm tired of hearing how the 0331 is going to explode as you drive down the freeway, rape your pets, set fire to your house, sell your children to the gypsies, and take a dump on your keyboard. The amount of information floating around that's being repeated verbatim (replacing the CPS cures everything, etc.) without any real backing for it is getting old.

don't think I wasn't expecting that:), thanks for the advertising. I think(actually I know) mine may be a worth a bit more than the original posting if I added up all my receipts but hey, everybody on here is an expert on what a vehicle should(and will)sell for eh? Not sure why you guys go around looking at peoples selling prices and "trying"(key word) to F up their sales, do you feel like it is your duty?? I mean come on, people will buy what they want to buy regardless of a bunch of "expert" opinions, but hey, whatever, no skin off my back, just sort of wondering I guess what could be the motivation to this.

Chris - im just playing with you...

a vehicle is always worth what the buyer and seller agree its worth - no more, no less...

I saw the price on your XJ a few days ago and was kinda shocked, then i read the rest of the add...

and if i was capable of spending the money to buy a reliable, well built vehicle - i would be looking for one just like yours - and your price doesnt seem un-reasonable to me for the worksmanship and quality of parts.

unfortunately, i am daily driving an MJ that i bought for $450, so that will tell you my budget for a reliable car... :banghead:

no offence intended - i guess i dont know you well enough to poke fun yet. hopefully that will change this summer :D
