Hillz n Hollars "Jeep Only Run" Sat the 13th

Yeah, I still got no power, might be a few more days. At least the jeeps running again, it was just a combination of loose and corroded connections.

That's awesome, did anyone know the depth of that puddle before hitting it?

Nope...

I'm usually not a big puddle-jumper, but Matthew had never wheeled in much mud, so he was sloppin' around all day, having a blast. I could only watch it so long before I had to get some, too.

I picked the wrong puddle.

On the upside, do you remember me getting my butt kicked on the A4 trail, back in June? This time I made it up, even all greasy with mud. So that's some redemption!

Robert

Thanks Nick. I just was exited to want to try out the new shoes. I'm gonna stay home and do my honey do's too.

PS, loved those pics and video. Wow, Robert got wet, huh?

Hee Hee Ha Yeah Wet Muddy and Stinky!!!!!!

That hole smelled as bad as Haspin Mudd.

Nick

Yep.

I started pulling out the carpet last night, I waited til it dried to make it easier to work with.

But even after a week, the mud between the carpet and the pad was still like toothpaste, and the slop under the pad was just soupy. Bleck.

I think I'm done stompin in puddles.

Robert

(I've got the 4th marked on my calander... Hope to make it!)

Cut some big holes in that floor pan and take it over to the car wash and go at it. What doesn't run out, use the car vacuum. Then get some clorox in there.

Who needs that carpet anyway. :)

"Cut" holes? Ha!

You should see what was under that carpet. Or, more to the point, what wasn't under it: The framerail was under the carpet, the floorboard was nowhere to be seen...

I always said I was going to run this rig til it rusted in half. Turns out I'm a lot further along than I thought...

Robert

Hahahahaha

Son Jay's XJ (now wheeled by Mike from Indy) could only be driven for about 15 minutes at a time because the carpet and other interior parts would start to smoke from the tailpipe heat.

I hope Mike fixed that.:shocked::shocked:

There were so many ,I could not get all the jeeps in one pic.

Look at the flood line. Thats cool man..... I feel for ya brother on the clean up, if I can help in anyway give me a call.

Since you don't have actual photos of Robert's misery, I'll post some of our TS buddy Petes from this spring. I assume this is about the same as the horrors that brother Robert is coping with right about now:

Yes sir thats very close...

Thinking back I wish more pics. was done after, but I guess we went to getting his rig up and running.
The camera went to the way side.

Nick

Yea, same thing happened with Petes. You can see from the side of the seat that about 6 inches of water drained out before I got my camera. The seat belt does not reflect the depth of the water because at the time it was around Cody in the passenger seat.

I'm sorry about all this discussion of your misery Robert. I'd be glad to help you dry that thing out if you want. You could take it down to my shop and open it up and I have one of those 5 foot diameter fans we could put to it for a day or so.

Nah. I appreciate the offers of help, but I'm just taking my time...

The worst part was getting the seat out: cutting and drilling the bolts from underneath.

I'm going to try to scare up enough scrap at work to cover the holes in floor. Then I'd like to go back with a full-floor rubber mat, but I'm having trouble finding one. I did read about a guy cutting up a rubber bedliner, so I might try that...

At least it's been nice out. I'm pretty sure any rain at all is going to bring back the stink with a vengance!

See you guys...

Robert

Tilex Mold & Mildew in spray bottle will kill that Haspin type odor. On the fabric seats, if thats what you have, original Febreeze actually works.

Have you thought about rubber roof material? You could do it with free trimmings I'd guess. Brush on some mastic, lay it down and cut around the loose areas.

The previous owner of my XJ sprayed it with Rhino lining, but that is gonna cost some $$. They were a Rhino dealer so it probably didn't cost them anything. Best of luck.

The large rust holes I have a wire welder just add sheet metal.

When I did mine ,some of the holes. I used fiberglass , worked great.

I just meant the carpet would stink, if it got wet before I got it pulled.

Have you thought about rubber roof material?..

No, I hadn't. But I am thinking of foam rubber insulation, to keep the tranny heat out. I clocked my floorboard at 170* today. (No jokes about hot tranny humps, either!)

Yeah, and there's off-brand jobs cheaper, but they all take a whole lot more prep than I'm willing to spend on my basket-case floor!

Thanks,
Robert
