So I have had to travel out to the desert for work a lot the past few months.

I noticed a seemingly cool looking utility dirt trail that runs along highway 60 where it goes through the hills. Not really a wheeling trail, but might be a fun little diversion from the commute one day.

Anybody know if this is accessible and allowed?

Looks like Jackrabbit heads south from the 60 just east of the 10/60 split.

I was looking at the utility road that parallels the 60 through the hills. There are a few access points at the 60. I didn't see any gates or signs. It literally never gets more than a couple hundred feet away from the 60, but it meanders back and forth and goes up and down the hills for a few miles.

i used to mess around over there. nothing too exciting. its not exactly legal. theres some rutty hills and whatnot. good spot to test out shit if you live local.

Jack Rabbit use to be a cut off for a rock pit at the end near Gilman Springs.I used it several times in a dump truck back in the late 90's. Alot of it was paved. After the plant shut down and moved to Romoland, the road was not maintained and has some wash out spots! I believe the land was either owned by Vulcan Materials (one of the biggest) worldwide material mining company or they leased the property. Either way it has a makeshift gate at the end. The road dumps you out about 1 mile north of Bridge and 5 or more from Sanderson. Bridge is a cut off from Ramona Exwy to Gilman.

You're talking about the access road for the power poles that are on the north side of the 60. There Is a big sandy wash next to that.

We used ride dirt bikes in that area in the 90s, then in the early 2000s they attempted to start developing the hills out there and started ticketing people.

It's all private property, so wheel at your own risk. With fire season starting this early, if stay away from there, last thing you need is to be the last one seen in the area if a fire was to get started. The people that live in the hills in the bad lands, on the south side of the 60, don't take too kindly to people wheeling around there... Ask me how I know.

Yeah. I passed through there again today. It is posted "No Trespassing". On top of that it is covered in dry grass in many spots. I just kept to the pavement.

Dying to get this new JKUR on something other than asphalt.

That clip was mike metzger and Brian deegan from the first crusty demons of dirt videos. Glad everyone enjoyed it. LOL

The south side of the 60 is excellent dirt biking. Illegal but hands down my favorite spot locally. This is the typical type of trail there. Nothing gross I promise.
