Hi. My name is Dan...

I have spent some time talking with Dan. His concern, appreciation and care for the MWC are as genuine as they come. He may come off as a little crass, he may not get along perfectly with everybody, he may very well be outspoken, arrogant and stubborn. But, if there is ever someone who wanted to keep the chapter moving onward and upward, it's Dan.

The adage of "You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet." comes to mind. I think you just can't improve something if one person isn't pissed at another, arguments flare or radical suggestions are made. With Dan as President, I don't believe he will ever sit idle. I'm sure he will always be looking for the next best thing for our chapter.

Very well said, Josh. Dan is one of the first people I met at my first WF and though he can be somewhat intimidating to speak with at first he's a great guy and genuinely cares about the club.

Intimidating? Why? Cuz he might die at anytime? Lol

Nah, because sometimes his posts come off a bit crass, for lack of a better word, like Josh said.

He is old as hell though! :D

I guess I knew him before I paid much attention to his posts so I just don't notice, like i said would be happy with him as a leader. Since he is easy to follow with his shiny head!

If I could vote for Dan, I would.

Where do you stand on the issue with Kentucky and some of the other border states moving to other chapters?

That's a tough question, but there's a point that a line must be drawn, and I really can't see us taking anymore states. We must leave this one alone.

I will see about allowing you to become a voting member of the MWC seeing how you've voiced a vote my way. :D

I wish it was that easy. Back before the rule change, when Sean was Prez, the bylaws were pretty vague. It allowed for members to choose which chapter they chose to support and gave them permission to participate in their elections. I actually voted in a few MWC elections in the early years of my membership.

But it was extremely difficult to enforce. There was no way "Membership" could correctly track which members had chosen a chapter other than their legal residence. So the bylaws were changed to reflect the geographic location of a member, rather then the choice of one.

So to comply, I vote in the SEC, even though my home of record is the MWC.

Dan = good people.

I support his run for president of the MWC.

mac 'almost been around as long as I have' gyvr

I have a question for all those running for an elected position on the MWC BOD:

With the MWC being one, if not the, most fiscally sound chapters of NAXJA, there is a decent amount of chapter funds that sit idle through the majority of the year. Now granted some of those funds are needed to put deposits in place for Winterfest or prepaying for shirts, hats, stickers, and available for matching funds programs from National, but the remainder of the funds are rarely tapped into. What are your thoughts of using some of those additional funds to "sponsor" a few "mini non-official" events split up across the chapter due to our overall size and locals? These funds could be used to help with food, firewood, minor prizes in the event of a drawing or raffle setting etc.

This was something I struggled with as the President. I wanted to give more back to the Chapter and these funds are the Chapters funds, belonging to the Chapters members....so why not come up with a way to "spread the wealth"?

Please discuss.

If they're unofficial , then it would have to go to a vote each time. I can't see spending our 'savings' on an run where there are only 4 or 5 attendees.

I would be open to discuss giving more to the guys to do the red bird trail clean up.

First, we need to have a better idea how much money we really have.p

I will also be pushing for better record keeping of our wf monies.

I agree with Mac.

He's also one of the few men that looks as good as I do with the shaved head. :worship:

That pretty much did it for me. :kissyou:

That answers this question

Kinda on the same page as tyler, how do you feel about chapter money going to non wheeling events like brewfest/piggig for food donations?

I can't see chapter money is going towards those events.

it would be no different then a group of us getting together at my house and going wheeling and asking the chapter for monies for that

Agreed on the vote statement. Those small 4-5 rig runs are all that sometimes materialize after people bail out. If it were a small run from the get-go I could see where a lesser amount of funds would be available. This is what I struggle with because it is not "our savings" it is the Chapters savings. It was brought to my attention (thrown in my face actually) that we (the Chapter) are not in the business of making and saving money b/c we are not a business....a not-for-profit organization/club is how it was explained to me at one time.

I know in the past the BOD has helped w/ small items for the clean up as well as the matching funds program ahs been donated to Redbird 2 times thus far.

We know how much we have, at least Mark does :D

This was difficult last year due to Marks absence, but prior to that the funds were all held seperate from the hat/shirt sales and Susie handled that very professionally and with much accountability. WF2011 did "balance" out after we were able to get everyone paid and then tallied up the shirt/hat sales. It came in so fast and there needed to be an additional money box for Raffle, Registration, and Sales......and Sue needed more help b/c we never anticipated the mass amount of purchasig that we encountered. The past 2 years of Winterfest have been record breaking years for revenue and attendance and it will take some tailoring to get everything just right...but we keep rolling with the punches and it all works out. If elected to this position it will still take work form all involved to get this to continue running smoothly and make the needed changes in a smooth manner. I believe you have the vision and the insight to make this work. And I hope to see your big bald head on the mic this year calling the raffle and making all the announcements on the bull horn.

I would love to have one, in Mich. :D

Seriously, I think it would be tough to do with having the trail clean up. Also I would hate to 'steal the thunder ' of wf.

although, everything is worth talking about.

Would you consider a second sanctioned event in another offroad location if that location was central to the membership that can't attend WF?

The MWC is a big place. I think sometimes the folks that live on the western side of the chapter have a hard time justifying the trip. If they were to organize an event, regardless of BOD participation, would it be supported as a chapter event?
