Help with a friends WJ Please

My former boss and friend has a 2000 WJ that foggs up his windshield when the defrost is on. He thinks it's the heater core and asked me if I can find any information on how to replace it. I'm assuming we would have to pull the dash to get to it. Does anyone know how to replace the heater core or could point me to any info that would help?

if the heater core is leaking, you should see residue under the dash at the firewall on the passenger side, by the trans tunnel. the center console and the dash must be removed to pull the heater case out. pretty involved job.

Thanks jneary. Mark said he could smell coolant when He was running the defrost. I'll tell him to check for any coolant around the firewall.

I found one useful thread on another forum but it wasn't very in depth. Does the WJ dash hinge down like the XJ?
What else would be effected by replacing the heater core? The thread said We'd have to recharge the A/C so I'm assuming we'd have to get it discharged first.

you would have to evacuate the a/c to do the heater core. if you decide to conquer the job, once the dash is completely loose, it swings away from the passenger side onto the passenger seat and the heater box wil come out.
