Help! What end is front and back to driveshaft-'89.

I'm changing my u-joints on my rear '89 driveshaft and forgot to note which end is which.

Does it matter?

I think the end with the balance weight was in front...but I'm not sure.

I'm in the middle of the job right now so I'd appreciate any help.

If I remember my weights might be in the rear but you may have to experiment.

I'd guess the weight would be up front by the trans as it's more exposed near the differential.

Does it matter...I wonder outloud?

I did exactly the same thing on my 99 a couple of months ago. I have noticed no problem and I think it doesn't matter, but I eagerly await the input of some driveshaft guru on this.

It's my assumption that it doesn't, and that if it did, there would be some indication on it. Then again, when you assume....

I don't feel too bad now that Matthew, one of the Jeep gurus here, did the same as me.:jester:

I'll wait to install tomorrow...if no driveshaft guru pops in I'll ASSume the weight goes in front.
