have a 96 XJ and just moved here from GA, started new job mon. My line from slave cylinder to master cylinder broke, im stranded at Checkers on Hwy 24 in Colorado Springs. If anyone has 1 I will pay almost anything, I use my truck for work.

Dunno what help this will be at 11:30 pm, but if you can't find a replacement line, you can repair it like I had to with my '93.

I'm assuming your line is the black plastic-synthetic line right? Mine got either too hot, or weak and bubbled, then burst. So, I cut the damaged area out which was about an inch of the tube, making sure the ends were clean and square. I then went to Home Depot and got one of these brass compression fittings:

and some emery cloth. I used the emery cloth to rough up the outside area of the lines about 1" so that it would "bite" into the brass sleeve. These brass fittings have a compression ring that slips onto the plastic line and you assemble it putting the hex shaped cap on first, then the compression ring. Put the end of the line into the brass body of the fitting and then slide the cap down, pressing the brass ring into the body and screw the cap tight. Using a wrench, tighten it down so that you're confident that the brass ring crushes down a bit onto the plastic line. Repeat for the other end of the fitting.

I did that repair years ago and it hasn't failed or even leaked to date.

is 93 one of the years that you have to pull the trans to get to the internal slave?

I seem to recall that the slave went external in 92? I bought a combo slave, master cylinder from Tellico 4x4 which came already bled and filled with fluid for $100. It has worked great.

Nope, my '93 was internal. I spent a hundred bucks extra when I did the clutch to go get a bell housing and all associated parts to convert mine to external. Donor was a '99 TJ.
