Hella Optilux fog/driving beam lamps any good?

My trail rig needs affordable 'service' lights that won't get hammered off like the factory 'glass header panel can. After finally tearing loose my spent header "on accident", I just want to leave it off.

Anyone use these dual beam lights w/o your headlights? My junk will see some on-road miles, and needs effective, but reasonably legal primary lighting.
