heat wrap the cat

Getting ready to install the exhaust on the project rig only issue is the cat is gonna be extremly close to the floor, and the battery will be mounted inside the jeep close to there. I was thinking about just wrapping it with header wrap, any forseeable issues with wrapping just the cat I'm trying to keep everything tucked up as high as possible

In cases like that i have usually just put some additional metal as an extra heat shield.
Don't let the extra heat shield touch the cat, leave an air gap and weld the shield fore and aft of the cat.

I don't have any experience with wrapping cats with header wrap, but in general header wrap is expensive(-ish) and doesn't last long with those kind of temps + water + mud, etc. It's not very sturdy stuff.

I would think that an air bake cookie sheet mounted above the cat would work just fine. Even if header wrap would hold up to the temps of the cat, wouldn't it hold moisture/road salt/chemicals and promote rust?

This thing is gonna be a trailer queen so no worries about salt but mud is unavoidable here in new england ill look into the cookie sheets thanks guys

That's a good idea, never thought about using one of those before. You could probably just bolt it to the floorboard...

I have my cat and Flowie 40 both shielded with cookie sheets. I also used some Owens/Corning fiberglass packed between the cat/muffler and sheet. This reduced rattles and helped keep the heat down.

I used exhaust clamps to fasten both sheets to the exhaust.

This might be a dumb question but what do you guys mean by cookie sheets? Like literally baking pans? My passenger floor gets a little hot in the summer months without carpet I'd like to insulate it

Air Bake cookie sheets have two sheets of aluminum with an air gap between them.
My second battery is directly over the catalytic converter for six years with zero ill effects in the California heat.

Header wrap WILL hold moisture against the outer metal of the cat and rot it quickly but it works great. I rotted the exhaust from under my turbo car pretty quick but I could get away with accidently touching without getting burned(sweet).

I use a heat shield from a ZJ on my XJ. It is a near perfect fit over the exhaust pipe (it is attached to the floor) including the cat and the muffler.
