have a small whistle now startup struggling...

I have had a small whistle coming from the engine area for a while now. It happens pretty much at startup and low RPM's. Recently the engine has stuggled to stay at idle upon startup, usually in the morning. When I press on the gas, it starts to die. I have to let off the gas, then press again...then it will catch and rev up and run fine.
I have checked most of the hoses quickly to see that they are all connected, and they seem fine. I replaced my fuel filter last summer, so it is in pretty good shape.
My questions are: Are these related (the whistle and struggle at startup)? Is the whistle a vacuum problem? Where should I start looking?
I performed a search and found these possible solutions: Intake gasket, loose intake manifold bolts, CPS, TPS. Unfortunately, I am not too sure what these search results are telling me.
If anyone has any insight or can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Almost certainly yes. Check all the rubber/plastic hoses that come off the intake manifold and make sure none are cracked. If you have cruise control, check the vacuum hose all the way back to the cruise control module. Also check the TB to manifold gasket for a leak.

i'll second what dyno said on the vacuum leak. check all the rubber lines like he said, brake booster line, lines at the map sensor, tb gasket, manifold gasket. try to rev it slowly at the trottle body while you in the engine compartment and see if you can here it coming from anywhere.
