Harold of the Rocks

is that what that is? lol I thought it was like that for strength or something.
lol nope, they start out flat (supposedly) with two pieces of 1/4 stock stitch welded together but then the rustbelt gets to them and it swells up into a rust/steel ravioli.

Who the hell bothers with link numbers?!?!

Seriously, I never plugged anything into a calculator for mine and it works.

F* that. I set my axle side to like 8" of seperation and frameside to like 5 or 6" and just winged the rest

I went with ~7 1/4" at the axle, and ~6 1/2" at the body, IIRC. From what I read you want to keep the links as close to parallel as possible, so I'd stay away from the 3" difference you're planning and try to either bring the axle separation lower, the body higher, or a little of both. Then again, this is all from what I've read and I have no idea if you would notice a difference.

well my welder may have just shit the bed. it wont turn on any more. Im going to take it apart and see if I see anything that jumps out at me as wrong. I doubt ill find anything though.

I know how ya feel, my vacuum cleaner just stopped working

Make sure it and the extension cord are plugged in, breaker didn't trip, try resetting the thermal breaker on the back if any? I've had all of those bite me in the ass :dunce:

yea I tried that. even pluged the cord into a grinder to double check.

doesent have a thermal breaker that i can find. im looking at the wire diagram and it says it has a thermostat. but I wasent using it when it died so I doubt it over heated.

I've always read to try and keep the upper parallel to the ground at ride height.

Hell if I know.

I wonder what would happen if I mounted all my links above the axle tube so I got them all parallel to the ground at ride height.:wow:

then I could run a 4th link backward from my bumper. and then cut a hole in the floor and run my dick down as a 5th link!

im so pissed my shit is broken. I opened it up and there is alittle rust on some of it. but its never been wet just in some damp places, like my tent.

I really dont want to do the rest of my build with the god dam stick welder.

I found a fuse but it is in great shape and looks to only affect the gun based on where it in amongst the wires.

Even in damp places can suck. I always bring my welder inside my garage when I'm done with it (it sucks but...oh well).

I'm no welder mechanic, but it's not doing ANYTHING when you turn it on?

yup, its as if I was hitting the on switch with the welder unplugged. but its plugged into a hot outlet. other tools work in that outlet.

here are some pics of the inside. the camera makes the rust look alot worse.

the brown on the left in the above pic is not rust, its some kind of sealer of something.

Looks fine to me. Wish I was closer, I'd be down for some multimeter nerdery to find out what's going on.

I've left my silly little baby welder out on the porch in a rainstorm before with no problems. Either I got lucky, or Lincoln Procore 100s are built tough.

yea thats all I could think when I opened it, was I wish ken lived closer. lol

I put a call into their tech department. Im waiting to hear back.

Yo I told you to throw some of those dumb packets in there you get when you get new shoes or tools or whatever. Not sure how to tell exactly how well they work but my dad's shop is damp all the time and it keeps it looking OK inside my welder if I throw a bunch in there. Everything else rusts like shit if kept in there.

Those packets are free snacks, dumbdick. Why would you put them in a welder?

fourney just called me back. they said they think its the actual power switch went bad. and are sending me a knew one.

I have to say their customer support has been pretty good. a real person answered the phone when I first called and transferred me to the correct department.
