Hard to start in the rain?

When my 01 has been sitting out in a big rain for a while it takes a long time tio start. the engine just turns and turns and turns until it cranks.

Any idea what's causing this?

Change your distributor cap. Mine did this as well when it rained and I discovered it had a crack. Problem solved.

Good tip

Also, check out all your grounds and connections while you're at it. Go through and disconnect, clean, lube with dielectric grease, reconnect.

mine was the exact opposite, started great in the rain, tempermental in dry heat. upgraded the battery cables to 00g and it starts if i just look at it. it was probably one of the old cables being shotty, unknowingly, it was replaced and remedied.

'01 has a coil rail instead of a distributor-- try changing plugs and using some dielectric grease on the plug boots-- it'll keep the moisture out of the connections.
