Re: Harbor Freight vs Costco Portable 12v Air Compressor - In Depth Review w/ Pictures
I was at costco the other day and they are still around $50-$60. They had a lot on the shelves, so if anybody wants one, let me know.
Per the last post, I did a similar thing last spring. I hooked up my Tsunami compressor to a 1.5 gallon tank. I made a quick disconnect for the power using a small winch connector. I didn't want to run the risk of slowly draining the battery leaving it connected all the time. I can take it out if I need to, and made a connect to regular aligator clips in case I want to use it with a different vehicle.
The problem I have with the system: It has to work hard to fill up 4 tires. Basically the compressor runs to fill up the tank and not the tires. I wait for the tank to fill, start to fill tires, run the pressure down, and then have to wait to build presure back up in the tank. I might buy an extra one to just to be able to connect it to the tire valves and walk away while it fills up. The good thing is, if I need a quick blast of 125psi, it's there. We used it to pop a bead back on a 36" IROK.
Also, the compressor runs a lot stronger if the engine is on.
Brainstorm: Is there any reason you couldn't hook up 2 tsunami's to a single tank?
