Hack and Tap or SHaft replacement?

For a Spicer 211229X try these guys:

Standard Parts Corp.
www.standardpartscorp.com
956 Providence Road
Chesapeake VA 26625
(757) 424-4450

I paid about $46 and they shipped same day, and they were very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Good Luck

Spicer part # 211229x

Rockford Driveline = $63.23 plus s&h

The H&T requires cutting, drilling & tapping and can be installed on the vehicle (not the most comfortable position, IMHO.) The shaft replacement style just requires wrenching and is more easily done on a bench, which makes for a more comfortable working position. Having done both, I prefer the full on SYE instead of the H&T. You get a stronger final product for about the same amount of work.

BS!

i did my HD SYE install under the jeep...

then blew the case up and did it on the bench for the next one...
both about the same dificulty...

for any SYE - buy these:

well worth the 15.00

I was speaking from the experience of someone who has grown old and tired of wrenching while lying on my back. Someone as young and spry as yourself may not find that such a problem.

Not the one i checked with here, hell they couldnt even get me a u-joint. did some research(opened a phone book) and phone a clutch and driveshaft shop in the old downtown industrial area. it'll be here tomorrow and it cost 60$. Gonna tackle the h and t this weekend.

Really good comments guys. I am sold on the H & T. Now I have to select a supplier. Tom Woods will not sell me a drive shaft if I do not buy the complete kit including the replacement shaft from them. Oh well! Next supplier.

Thanks everyone.

got the driveshaft done yesterday and to my suprise it is almost going to be too long.i am going up another 1.5" or so and it should be fine then.
