Gutting out an XJ

Yeah, I ordered a kit. I couldn't swing the bender and the tube to begin with. Ilm doing some custom stuff as well.

Mark, not sure what ya mean. Chopped the roof up to the c pillar. Keeping the back seat.

oh.. didnt know you chopped it. i meant the hatch part.. i guess you 're not going to use the hatch? or going to incorporate it with the chop?

Nope. The only thing the hatch is doing now is holding my sticker collection in my shop. Think I'm going to keep the back window with my stickers and chunk the hatch. I need a tag bracket on my cage...

your cage goes all the way to the rear? or is it following the back lines of the chop?

The way it is originally designed it would go all the way to the back like the roof was still there. I intend to customize the cage behind the c-pillar.

I haven't done anything but hack the roof off. Lots and lots left to do.

I really dig the way that looks! Though i pulled all the plastic interior parts out. im going to buy some sheets of metal and plate it. So its more rugged.

this guy has done an awesome job blogging it. check out the interior stuff.

So andy.. whats the progress? inspire me!

Not what I had in mind but its growing on me. Its just tacked in place atm. Going to burn it in tomorrow. Later down the road ill chop a lot more off the back with I can afford the coilover.

I like it.
a bar accross the back to reinforce the rear in case of a roll over perhaps?
I want to see what you're going to do for the cab section!

cage looks good... it follows the lines pretty well for an interior cage, what do the a pillars look like at the floor if you dont mind me asking?

Doug .. can you make me something like that? once you get set up?

Chop it.. i want to feel the open air!

I still intend to cut a square in the roof about 90% of the remaining roof for a hugumonus sunroof...

Mark, I don't intend to do a whole lot else with the cab except weld up the holes up top and in the back. I'll also brace up the roof so it don't flap in the wind.

The back of it is all temporary anyway. When I have time I intend to chop the entire back, link it, dovetail, coilovers... etc.

The cage came with a bar in the back. I welded it all up tonight. I'll eventually get a picture of it.

Doug, the feet have 4" by 4" plates that weld to the floor and the tube welds to it. I'll get a picture of that stuff tomorrow too. I have to paint it all up tomorrow.
