so after moving out here in march, my wife and i are finally somewhat settled. I am originally from Iowa, but we have lived on the east coast before. Last time we were here, we lived in queens...but this time around we have settled in jersey city. i'm a little older, a little fatter and my xj has about 100k more miles then it did the last time, but hopefully i can get to know some of ya'll and you'll be forgiving of the redneck from the mwc...besides we let ken stein hang out with us, its only fair now that another one of us becomes part of the NAC :)

my xj is going to be busy getting ready to be street legal/inspected in NJ so its kind of a pain having to work on it in the street. i'm hoping i can find a garage to rent too...once that happens, rest assured, my mj project and j10 project will also find their way out here. hopefully i'll be able to come to NACfest...don't think the xj will be alright to wheel at that point, but at least i can come hang out for a day or two.

if any of you end up in jersey city or nyc, give me a shout...i'm always down for libations.

welcome. this is one of the reasons I love NAXJA. if I ever have to move Im guaranty friends. all I have to do is log onto a different chapter.

hope to see you at NACfest

x2 on the moving bit.
Welcome. Not too far from me. Probably an hour or so. Too close to the city for me haha.

Edit... also what do you need done to the xj to get it road legal?

needs flares (i took them off because they were falling off in iowa...also need to fix my exhaust...i have an 02 sensor that came out wrong so i cant thread the new one in the cat converter...i may just have to get a new cat, but i havent quite given up on it yet.

i'm also not sure how much of a stickler nj is on brake pads, but when i lived in nyc they always checked them over. pretty sure my rear brakes were done about 50k ago :(

Well depending on the lift you may not need the high rise... plenty of info out there on that. NJ inspections otherwise are just hook up to the computer 96+ check for codes, or sniffer for pre96 and gas cap check. Purely emissions. no more safety inspection. You may get hassled for the flares locally though.

They only get me for a couple days a year when I can afford to go to WF :eyes:

Welcome, let me know when you want to dump a jeep in my yard and/or hit the junkyard.

welcome, i'm in cedar grove. nj inspection as stated is only emissions now. they don't check for brakes or flares anymore. i've been running flareless for 6-7 years

that is good to know...i guess all a need is a new cat or a damn thread tap big enough to rethread mine. right now the cel is only on because the downstream sensor is unplugged.

my xj is lifted a hair over 4" right now...i thought that was enough for the elevated vehicle test, but i'll look at the current laws. i'll be honest i haven't really educated myself very well on it yet...probably something i should do soon though. i went to look at a rental garage today for all of my junk, but i don't think its going to work out. i'm trying to get one of my buddies to split a garage rental with me, but so far he's dragging his feet. i've been looking a little outside of jersey city to the west, but so far not much luck

so I just posted your J10 in our craigs list thread. small world.

yep...thats me. i love the truck a lot. i just have no where to work on it right now. i have storage upstate near new paltz, but its too far from me to be able to work on it all the time. i figured if someone wants it, i would put it up for sale...if not i'll get back to it when i find a place. i just don't want to drag it around gods green earth...the price to put it on a trailer 2-3 more times wouldn't be worth it. i'm keeping the custom motor mounts and drivetrain i have for it so i can build one. its priced pretty high for what it is, but like i said, i don't need to sell it. its in a great place for someone to jump in and start putting it back together.
