bought this thing back in 09. Its me second xj. First was a 94 5 speed that just rotted out from under me. I made sure i picked up a clean one second time around and made sure it had the 8.25 rear end

The day i picked it up.

drove it and wheeled it a bit. put a 3" lift in it on 31's and wheeled and drove it.

in june 2011 the 0331 head finally had enough. Didnt feel like messing around in there with lifters and rebuilt head so i just swapped in an older 4.0 from a 95 xj that i junked. It had about the same milage on it and ran great so i dropped it in.

New motor in and running great.

Next came the factory winch. It came of a 94 that i junked. Its a ramsey 6000lb model. may seem small but it has plenty of nut to recover myself especially with a snatch block. Because it came off a 94 i had to make it work with the 97+ front fascia. It came out OK.

sometime in 2012 i got smashed into by a car carrier while i was parked. My friend did all the body work and paint for me and it came out great. Needed a new hatch, tailights, rear quarters and bumper.

right after i got the jeep back from paint the flex plate exploded in a snow storm. I replaced it with a used unit i had lying around.

2013 came and i moved up to 5.5 inches of lift and 285/75/16 (33's) I added the moab rims, infinity tweeter pods, overhead console and tan leather interior from a limited. Ive also started putting together an xj 44 from parts taken from an mj 44 i had.I also replaced the stock tansfercase skid with a better clearenced appalacian arom t-case skid. I also added a IRO 2.5" cat back exhaust. It was cheap and in my opinion sounds great. Its not really loud loud at all....which i like just a subtle deep rumble.

parts jeep

You can see the ZJ gas tank skid that i modified to work on my xj.

Wheels off of a YJ?

of course....green bastard from parts unknown

Well alot has changed in the past year. I havnt been able to log in for the longest time and i though it was an naxja issue but ended up being a computer issue. I couldnt log in using safari IDK why.

Anyway... I have moved on to a clayton 3 link setup....you can talk crap all you want about me having open diffs but i do alot of highway driving (150+ miles a day between providence and cape cod) and i really needed the good ride quaility of long arms. This THING RIDES LIKE A CADILLAC and what i really love is that the jeep is not a rattletrap everything is nice and tight. I have the suspension exactly how i want it and it performs perfectly off road for my needs. my next phase of the build will be focusing on gears and lockers.

Upgraded to a HP 30 from a 99 and added the 3 link truss.

Added the brown dog rubber mounts. These made a huge difference I love them. Totally different jeep now.

Some idiot sideswiped me in New Bedford (hit and run) messed up my otherwise perfect body and paint. Anyway I reluctantly had to add these quarter guards to cover the damage. Oh well...the good thing about it is the body is no longer perfect so i dont really care to much about it any more trail-wise

Not much lately.
I added the Detours USA tailbone tire carrier and did some light wheeling in NH did some class 6 roads through the white mountain national forest and around attitash. My jeep did great aside from the alternator taking a dump on mt washington. I was able to make it down to the bottom and swapped out the alternator in the motel parking lot.

I also installed an Old man emu heavy load suspension on my girlfriends xj and added some brandy new mastercraft 31s sooooo...it should be nice to load up and take on long trips now. Im very impressed with the OME suspension. Rides very nice. The rear is on the firm side but i like and should be nice with gear in the back. Really worth the money IMHO.

I also picked up a 20# CO2 beverage tank to built a setup. Im working on a mount for it that utilizes the bolt holes and area where the stock spare tire goes in the trunk area of the xj. The mount will use the factory bolt holes for the spare tire mount so can easily swap it between jeeps.

yes. say what you want but i LOVE them hahaha. I had an issue with 1 tire so far and treadwright was great to work with even after 8 months after purchase. They are about a year old now and i really must say i have no complaints.

Once you hang a spare on the rear and some tools in the back you will love the ride of the OME. I have it on mine and it rides great. The leafs will sag some over time, though not too much. The green rig is really nice, BTW....love it.

Just another small point. If you want traction with invisibility on the street, I run truetracs front and back in my 01 and you don't know they are there until you need em. If you ever go that way. I ran a rear truetracs and an open front in my 98 for years no issues..you've got the flex to keep the tires on the ground, so it matters little until you get into the crazy stuff

thanks for the kind words!. I have been looking at traction devices im thinking of throwing a lock rite in the dad 44. I would really like a trutrac in the 30!

They don't disappoint. If you ride the brake progressively over the big stuff you can fool them into near a complete lockup. On the street you wouldn't even know they are there.
Y/w on kind words. It's a really nice build. Roll it proudly.

I Finally installed my xj 44 rear that ive had for a long time. ALSO replaced my rear shocks with some bilstein 5100s. I have been halfheartedly been building this axle for years with the inentions of saving it for a rainy day. I scored it for a song back in 2010 but i figured by now its ready to go in. I have an APB out for a used locker on it but if nothing turns up in a week or two i will order an aussie. When i get my tax return around march Plans are to add 4:88s to front and rear. For now this thing is perfect with new bearings and seals.

PICTURE TAKEN WITH A POTATO!

made hood lifts out of old hatch shocks

also finished my CO2 tank project.
