Graphite paint for leaf springs.....where to get it?? Goatman??

Anybody know of a place online to get this stuff? I searched for the graphite paint a while back, including calling one or two tractor stores here and they hadn't heard of it.

I got SlipPlate from GRAINGER's supply store.... Graphite based paint.. WORKS GREAT.. tough as hell... currently using it on my dakota mix leaf pack.. no problems so far.

My first question is why are RE's springs so freakin short eye to eye? Sitting with about 100lbs of tools in the back the shackle is still angled with the bottom towards the front of the jeep(i.e. the wrong way). I flexed the Jeep up in my yard a little and with the leafs almost completely flat the shackle is just nearing the vertical mark.

This is exaclty why I dont get why people want more lift than advertised for a kit. If I buy a 6.5 inch pack that's all I want 6.5 freakin inches, not 8. This is the biggest problem I see in most all lift kit manf. Almost every aftermarket leaf spring I have seen is to short eye to eye, the only fix I see to this is what you were talking about with moving the shackle frame attachment point. I dont think it would be as big of a problem with the longer shackle because as the anlge gets more to where you want it there will be more levrage on the spring making it sit lower.

So... are teflon liners still beneficial in conjunction with this graphite paint? Are the teflon pads even necessary still?

I think the teflon pads are definitely still needed. While the paint is tough, it will wear off. I just rebuilt my pack again and used both the teflon pads and the graphite paint. I think it is worthwhile to use both.

just go get urself some OME spring packs with the teflon pads and grease fittings in each leaf. thats what i run and boy do they flex and give a nice ride

OME leafs have grease nipples threaded into each leaf of the pacK?

Anyone care to elaborate how that works? Do they just drill a hole in the pack and tap it for the grease nipple and leave it at that or is there something else going on there... I'm thinking it'd be a cheap and easy mod to my existing leaf pack... I've just never seen OME leafs before so I have no idea how they do it.

Hallo. Why so difficult? Pry with a small tool space between the leafs and spray once a year high pressure grease into it.

I would think that this will attract dirt and lead to more of a negative effect than nothing at all.

Yes maybe , but if there is grease, there is no room for dirt. haha
The spaces between the leafs are sometimes very tiny, but there will be also spots with plenty of space. ( greased or not greased)
