So, in this hypothetical situation where he is testifying as to the circumstances under which the content was downloaded, you recommend he go from not doing anything wrong to committing perjury to cover up the fact that he didn't do anything wrong?

Since the 'offending material' is probably aimed at teenagers, i'll let you pass for not knowing that cowboys and aliens was a feature film. Its NBC/Universal.
Universal has allways been known for being very active in the anti bittorrent scene.

Yeah, I forgot what it was that was downloaded.
I just was paying attn to it being an NBC product. I remember the ads for it, and thinking the premise was pretty stupid, and I'm right in that 18-35 demographic those types of movies are aimed at! Are you advocating illegal activity based on the legal precedent that "Everybody else was doing it first?" Shaky legal footing...

To have your fair day in court that is what it amounts to. If you think otherwise you must be pretty naive. If everyone told the truth 100% there would be no need for a trial except for deciding the punishment.
Besides being a defendant he would never have to testify if he chose not to.

No, I am not ok with it, but that is pretty much part of the court system. Its pretty much who is the better liar, and who can bend the facts the best.

To be honest, I never saw it. The idea didn't sound too appealing and I haven't heard any reviews from friends saying it was really good. Real Steel on the other sounded dumb, but was told it was good, and it was.

So, you're not advocating, just saying it is there. Cause it sure sounded like you were saying that he should just lie and claim it was secured when the incident occurred because everyone else lies.
Of course people lie in court. They also make honest mistakes. The goal is not to stoop to their level.

You have no grasp of how the courts really work. The goal is to win, not avoiding stooping to their level. If they got you in court you are already at their level.

I went to court for a ticket and plead not guilty. I was told by the judge that I could not plead not guilty. I was like wtf? How can I be presumed innocent before a verdict is rendered if I have to plead guilty to the crime right out of the gate. Got a lawyer went to court. Still had to plead guilty. lol nothing happened no fine or anything but I HAD to plead guilty. Something about the way there laws were. This was in New York btw.
Anyways so whats the deal with the letter anything come of it yet?

You guys heard about that right? Some porn video companies are doing stuff similar to this, where they threaten to sue, publicly, as a porn company. I'd imagine many married men would do quite a bit to save a lawsuit over porn, and many MANY people plea those ones down...

Yeah I have read that a couple times, file out of court and wifey won't know, easy money for them

What I've read is its a scare letter by a troll company, I have a wireless router but its protected

I would install NOD32 and check incoming and outgoing traffic, it shows you everything that's happening in terms of connections.
I've had some f*ers mooch of my internet connection and countless other have reported the same IP also, it's basically hacked my PC and was using it as a zombie computer. It may also involve your PC in DDOS attacks against political sites.
Best suggestion though is forget all anti-viruses and reformat the PC. As far as the letters go then can go to hell! I've had Getty's images contact me with an official invoice that I have to pay. I sent them packing and nothing happened.

Knowing that lawyers will lie, cheat, and steal to win and accepting that as the right way to go about things are too separate things. By your logic, apparently I should go lie to the welfare office to get some money, automatically jump on every class action suit that comes my way even if I haven't been harmed, fudge my tax return, steal supplies from work (when i find work again), etc etc.
Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't make it right.
