Got a hitch for free, will it fit

And your nustrip is upside down.

Now that I think about it, that's probably irrelevant. Don't mind me.

I would grind it.

Even the 100% correct ones may need some work.

Rev

What he said, though.

Three bolts on each side is more than some aftermarket hitches have anyway. I would grind it and go for four on each side. Good luck.

If the fourth is one is the very rear, I got that bolt also, I just didn't have it in the picture. It has washers and lock washers on each bolt also. I need to find someone to make the bolt work (aka machine some metal off, about 1/8th of inch maybe). So I am going with hitch for now. I probably won't even clean it up either, just us it as is.

Photo, the one bolt in back is not going in. I could probably make it by grinding a little bit, but I would rather just spend the money and get a correct one that fits.

You have the nut strip upside down but more importantly backwards. The bolt that's by its self goes in the hole closest to the bumper bracket IIRC.

Just dont forget to paint it before you put it up in there, or it will rust weld to the body, and use thread locker on the bolts to keep them from coming loose, or rust welding in the holes.

It will be cleaned up, actually it will be sand blasted. If I need to do any machining to it, got a friend who can do that also.

Hmm, missed the edit time-I guess it was already mentioned, and looking at it, I think it's just upside down, not backwards. I don't believe the JCR strips stick out of the "frame" section like the stock pieces, do they?

And yeah, a dremel and a file are handy tools for XJ owners.

there's no more precise tool than a dremel, who needs CNC and measurements in thousandths?:D

Trying to get the right orientation of them, can someone show me? Since I don't have installation notes and the youtube isn't any help. The machining would be free, and I don't have the correct dremel bit more then likely (actually have never used my dremel). There is four bolts on the nut strip, three close to each other and one farther away.

Thanks to Rev. I test fit the nut strips to the hitch in the correct way. I could only one bolt to line up 100% and only other bolt that lined up was next in line, but went to the back hole on the hitch and didn't like up 100% (almost). I could get this widened to make it work, but is it safe being only held in with two bolts on each side?
