hey y'all, I am looking for a good online or long distance accessible source for buying a jeep somewhere in the I-70 ish corridor between the springs and pueblo.
I got married in garden of the gods to a native girl (well a native coloradan that is) last august and we took off in our 88' 2dr xj for alaska with all our worldly possessions crammed in or strapped on top (on a safari rack we custom built the day before our wedding! and yes WE- she is a better welder than anybody reading this) so anyway after driving 4000+ miles with an overloaded little jeep and doing some ghetto fab-wait that would be redneck fab- repairs deep in canada (ball joints replaced w/out press, injector o-rings cracked and spraying all over the motor but parts store replacements were a week+ away, tps for the tranny died and left us governor shifting for the better part of a day (tps=$300cdn or so!) 180miles per tank was GOOD MILEAGE! and gas was $$$$$) but the thing that added insult to injury was arriving at our new home with blown shocks, worn UCA bushings, 3 bad tie rod ends, toasted track bar, 3 bad u-joints (ok 2 were bad before we left) and injector o-rings that were still spraying gas everywhere! the moral of the story is that I am not driving my POS! xj back down to colorado when we move in september and I would like to get an head start on locating one because I'll be commercial fishing from end of may to the end of august and won't be able to get much done then.
so if anyone has a good jeep source for me or just has enough morbid curiosity to ask questions like what is it like to drive an automatic tranny through a mountain range without a functioning TPS or why would you move to alaska for the winter? I would be happy to answer. thanks phil
