Gold Cobra

So the A/C is staying for now. I hope you're all happy.

The Jeep came with some fancy Clifford remote start and security system. I never liked it, so I decided to take it out today. I pulled the dash cover and found this;

So I looked at it for a few minutes then went inside. But I did find this behind that panel;

It looks like it was never hooked up, from what I can tell.

So I did some research last night and it seemed like it was going to be a lot easier than I thought to remove the Clifford system. I had it completely removed in about 30 minutes.

Then I installed one of the sets of Lightforce 170s I have. I tapped into the factory fog light switch so I didn't have to do much wiring. I also changed the oil, air filter, and the plugs. Plugs looked like they were brand new, but they were a super gay NGK Magic Platinum or something like that. So I put Champions in.

Then I washed it and took it for a spin to dry it off.

Evans creek was a blast, awesome place to wheel. I did leave with some damage however.

I slid off a tree root and my fender smashed into the bank. It will get tube fenders eventually, but for now I just need to do something with the exposed steel. I can live with body damage but not rust.

I've always liked what Andy (kndrewa) has done with the trail scars on his Jeep. Instead of trying to hide them he's accented them, looks awesome. So I decided to try and copy his idea.

The plan was to straighten it out a little and paint only the damaged area.

After

A couple swings of the hammer and a plumbers torch and it was straight enough to bolt the flare back on.

And after paint with the flare back on

I think it looks pretty good, better than before at least.

So I finally got around to tinkering with this thing.

One thing I've hated about this rig is visibility at night. I can't see out the windows and have a hard time seeing the trail/road on sharper corners. Time to resolve that.

Step one was to remove the window tint from the front windows, while I like the way it looks from the outside, I don't like its functionality. I took it off with windex and a razor blade.

Step two was to move my Lightforce lights from the windshield brackets. Hood glare wasn't an issue, but I could see them, and they were kind of in The way at times. Also they were branch magnets and it only took two runs for me to lose a filter. So I built a mount for them that bolts to the winch. Worked out well.

I put the toggle for them next to the locker override.

I got a pair of Vision-X LEDs for Christmas so I put them on the windshield brackets and angled them out a little. We'll see how this light setup works out.

I also got a Sirius dock for this thing so I can listen to Ellis while I wheel, RED DRAGONS!

So, what do you think about those Vision -X led's? I was checking them out at the Puyallup show a couple of weeks ago and they look pretty awesome.

I haven't given them a real world test yet. But they're a lot brighter than my headlights, so we'll see.
