Going to Downiville

Going to Downiville with some buds for some MTB. I thought I would take the XJ
and toy around also. Anyone have any pics, tips, or recommended trails.

Gold Lakes basin. On up 49, turn left at Bassetts. Get a map of the area and check out the Deer Lake and Snake Lake trails. Good places to camp at the back of Gold Lake. :wave:

I haven't done the downieville downhill in 7 or 8 years. That ride ROCKS. A good 2-3 hours of climbing, rewarded by 45 minutes of downhill singletrack and a nice little swimming hole under the bridge as you get back into town.

Never wheeled up there.

Another thing to check out is the Sierra Buttes fire look out. Worth the walk.

Ya. But take the shuttle and bypass the 4000 foot climb to the top and get rewarded with a couple of hours of single track downhill and just a little uphill. Epic!!!!

that's cool that they still have the shuttle service. Downieville is a cool little town (for a meth lab).

Poker Flat road. There is alot of gold mining history on it (buildings, cemetary, mines)
