I have a 99 XJ sport and the glove compartment always make stressing "squeek" noise on every little bump on the pavement. What do you suggest to relieve myself of that disturbing sound? Thanks
Buy a new Jeep.... Well, as you're driving try and listen to the noise. It may be easier if someone else drives while you listen. Make sure the noise is coming from the glove box, and if it is, figure out what part of it. Then we can tell you how. It may be as easy as putting a small adhesive felt pad between the storage unit and the door of the glove box. That would be my first guess. Good Luck.
On my 89 the latch mechanism is adjustable, I just can't remember how. Either the plug that the lid goes into can be moved in or out more or the lid plug can. That is if it pertains to a newer XJ.
the newer xj's have a totally redesigned dash, that actually has a USEABLE glove box. I ahve a 95' and an 00' ... i used to get hate the glove box. The new one isn't great, but it's better.
