Getting new exhaust !

For those who havent read the "exhaust, whos heard what and how's it sound " thread I was lookin for an exhaust for my 2001 xj 4.0 , and I have decided to go with a "Kolak exhaust" it,s a flowmaster 70 series ,carsound cat, and a constant diameter tail pipe thats 2.5 " and a stainless tip, I will let you all know how it sounds, and perform's ,and I may provid a link to an actual recording if I can get it uploaded.

Did you install it, if not, how much did it cost for install and the new down pipe?
I'm looking at the exact same thing, give me the low-down!

I didnt install a new downpipe , my xj is an "01" it allready has a 2.5 inch downpipe, I ordered 2 systems at once one for my 04 wj and the other for the xj but i believe it was right around 360.00 for everything on the xj . the muffler,converter,tailpipe,and 304 stainless tip, the install was only 50 bucks at my local beck muffler. The fit of the system was superb! it could not have been better the constant diameter pipe was bent perfectly / The sound is really good , its louder than stock in all area's idle,cruise,accelleration,but no where near too loud, for now my wife drives this vehicle more than I do so we kept the noise down a little .it does sound like a v8 at idle. I am a big fan of the flowmaster brand and have had them on several vehicles. Another notible improvement was the underhood temp decrease ,,,around 125 degrees, and a nice power increase on the top, throttle responce improved as well as gas mileage , around a 1-2 mpg increase. I have also heard alot of guys run the 40 and 50 series mufflers it just depends on how loud you want it any of them will giv a good tone. Good luck!

I wish I would have gone with the 70 series or the 50 series SUV. I'm running the 50 series deltaflow with a similar setup to yours and it sounds great but its annoyingly loud sometimes. It doesn't really bother me, but when people are in the car with me they complain about it.

yeah the 2 best cheap mods us xj guys can do is 2.5 inch piping from the cat back. high flow cat and muffler. preferable a flowmaster. because the xj's like some backpressure and the flowmasters actually don;t flow that well. and then just a intake. the exhaust has 2.5 from header back to cat as was said in a earlier post. i have yet to do my exhaust but i want a flowmaster 40. not that loud unless your on the gas. then it has a nice little rumble.
