... then you have to get it on the trailer.

this is me this past sunday. we're at the aetna we rock lease... got up through the top gate, and theres a small rock garden maybe 500 yards up the trail on the left side. i was playing around on it sat night and heard a loud pop. had no idea what it was.... then soon realized that i had sheared off all 5 of my wheels studs.:doh:

dunno how it happened... guessing maybe i was missing one already maybe or already had a few that were about the snap off??? anyways i drove it all the way off back down to the lease with 3 wheel dig, drug my backing plate the whole way. heres the last 6 min of me trying to get it onto my trailer...

brings back WAY too many memories of trying to put wrinkled up dirt track cars back onto the trailer after a long (or short...) night of beating and banging. Good memories, but not as much fun when it's your money being tossed around like a rag doll!

I thought about that too. But I bet it would dig up the ground too. Maybe not as much though.

Should of jacked the rear of the jeep way up and backed the trailer under it then you could have used your front tires and backed the rest on. That's what i would have tried, dunno if it would have worked though.:dunno: Just my two cents.

Did that with an XJ body that went to the scrap yard. Works but not like you need it to. But then again it had no axles at all! LOL!

yeah, again, it's best to just be prepared for that. i keep 5 studs in my center console. the ski thing works great, especially if you have a hatchet to kinda shave the front end to slope like a ski. that did look like fun, though. it moves surprisingly well in 3 wheel drive..

we thought about trying to ski idea but instead of wasting time on something that may or may not work i just figured i would limp it back plow style. def an experience though... glad we could get it on video. plus me in overalls, that just adds to the suspense even more haha :guitar:

We did the log under the front axle at the Crawl for Old Blue when the ball joints separated. Lots of fun.

I carry spare wheel studs and spare axle shafts which I would have popped in one or the other and drove it out

You have to think outside the box. I was on a run that had that problem. My solution was to pull the opposite wheel and drive a couple of studs out from that wheel, then put them on the wheel that had them all sheared off. We even stole one stud from another rig. They are easy to get out and put in. We then drove the rig off the trail carefully.
