So, does anyone wanna see the response I received from the state on the question of Buffalo Creek? Included in their response were comments regarding helmets and eye protection. Or is ignorance actually bliss?
I'm sorry that you view it that way Kurt.
The way I look at it is that if we know what is expected of us in this highly policed sport we make mature decisions about how to best protect the sport. Not knowing what the rules are causes people to break them. When the rules are broken that generates negative exposure. Negative exposure causes more rules to be made.
Will I wheel at a place I'm not supposed to? Probably not. Will I wear a helmet and eye protection when I wheel at a place that I'm allowed to? Probably not. Would I wear them if I REALLY wanted to wheel a specific location and it was required? Definitely yes.
Is it silly that the competition guys have to wear the protection gear and a hobby enthusiast doesn't?
ok well when I see a state trooper or other law enforcement person out there in an OHV wearing a helmet and eye protection and writing tickets for people that are not wearing a helmet or eye protection... then it will start to worry me. But untill then...
