Well it's be long enough driving around in overdrive all the time....she drives like a fat pig. Going with 4.56 dont plan to go over 33". HP D30 and 8.25. Guess i need a new carrier also... Think i'm going to do gears and shafts for the D30 at the same time, I would like to get them from the same place...thoughts??

What/who do you guys like:
National Drivetrain and Motive OR
Just Differential and Nitro's

Or something else, what's the best bang for my buck in your opinion?? I've read and searched 1000 times...getting the SEC ideas!! :spin1:

Eric at National Drivetrain was awesome to deal with and fast shipping... The prices he gave me for gears, master install kits, and carriers was so much cheaper than Just Differentials....

X2

I've got quotes and the prices are really good for name brand, quality parts. Haven't ordered anything yet so I can comment on the shipping.

this is fast shipping: I ordered my parts on the 11th of this month and received them yesterday the 15th... and my stuff came from two different locations.

check with Chase at East Coast Gear Supply, he is a great guy to deal with, and can get whatever you want

I've never heard anything negative about Motive Gear. You know they are also associated with Ten Factory.

The Motive Gear set I've seen looked like any other R&P set. This particular ratio was a reboxed Dana part.

well, i dont have any tests or personal experience to attest to but i got that info from a very trusted hotrod/car tuner friend of mine. and not that people have had no problems out of the gears from motive but... its like the 0331 heads you guys talk about, some may not have any problems but are prone to cracking...they arent the best made parts and are weaker than comparable aftermarket parts, all im saying. sometimes you pay for what you get kinda thing

I just installed 4:56 motive gears in my dana 30 hp and chrysler 8.25 29 spline. So far so good but I don't have that many miles on them yet but I'm driving up to NY with the jeep for Christmas vacation. I'll let you know how they hold up after I get back should be back end of next week and will have put around 1500 miles on them but they are all highway miles. Cant say much for the outer wheel bearings had them in for less then a week and 50 miles and they went bad already.

^^any issues on the install? Did you do it? Yea, please let me know how they run. What made you decide on Motive?

I agree on the price @ National with Eric....he gave me a heck of a quote for gears and TEN Factory Shafts. I'm going to keep shopping. Really.... when your spending almost $1K whats another $100 for maybe a better quality R&P. Just how i look at it anyway!

I chose motive because I had them in my last rig and my truck with no problems and know many others who run them as well with no issues.

Agree...i've talked to several with Motive and they had no issues either. Cant beat his prices.

Well Im back after a treacherous trip to NY! The drive up there was insane I wound up bursting a fuel line and having to stay overnight in a fire hall because all of the hotel/motels were booked because of that storm that shat all over Virginia. I fixed the line and headed out the next morning and there was still traffic so i decided to drive through the Appalachian mountains. Well to get back on point Dr Randy. I beat the piss outta these new gears I had installed for well over 1500 miles (diving through mountains, highways, and towns) and the gears are holding strong. I am going to have the inspection done on them next week so I can give you a definite answer after four wheel parts take a look at them. As far as I know they are great!

OK cool thanks man, yea let me know if they find anything on the insp. I'm sure they'll drain/check/fill
I got a quote from a local 4x4 guy on some Yukons, he was going to install also...MAN... yukons were pretty high. I cant remember the difference in $$. I've got it written down but not at home at this time. Anyway thanks again for the update's :yelclap:

X2 http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/ Just ordered from Chase yesterday. He supplies a lot of the guys in NC that compete with their gears I believe. At least call him and inquire about his current sale. Note sure how long it is going on though.
