Gear change?

I have an 87 XJ, running with a D35 non-clip with 3.55 gears. I purchased a set of 4.56 gears and master rebuild kit from Randy's Ring and Pinion. My question is, do I have to get a new carrier for the gear change? The shop that I called today to have the gears changed said I would need a new carrier. I thought that the only carrier change that I would need would be for my front D30. According to some other websites, they claim the the carrier for the 3.55 gears is good for 3.55 and up. Is this correct?
