I have my rockers done in Gator Guard. In reading more about it, it is an epoxy based product. Mixed in to parts, then applied. It's black. I decided I want to make it red. Anybody have an idea on what kind of rattle can paint will work best for this?

I would think the best bet would be to mix some kind of pigment into the Gator Guard when you mix it. If it's already on there then you want to use an epoxy rattle can paint so it will adhere properly. Maybe a paint designed for plastic would work :dunno:

Here's what you do. Seen it done plenty of times. Don't mix in the pigment with the product. This is fine if you're looking for a generic color, but if you're going for a match it's hopeless.

Wash the living daylights out of it. Soap, water, scrub, soap, scrub, water, rinse, soap. You get it. After that, wipe it down with some autobody wax and grease remover. SPI makes some really nice stuff. Then hit it with some adhesion promoter. Bulldog is what most people use, but try to avoid the aerosol can if at all possible. They tend to clog up way too easily and you waste about 3/4 of the can. Let that flash per tech sheet, then go with some regular 2k primer. NOT high build, or you will start filling in the texture and it will just look like orange peel in the end. Spray on your color-matched urethane base, let it flash, and clear. I love SPI's universal. Personally, I would flatten the clear so that there is still a destinction between the body and the rockers. Don't wetsand afterwards whether you added a flattening agent or not.

Orrrr.... Blast on some krylon and hope it lasts. I prefer the first method :)

^ Forgot to throw in my .02 cents in the last post. I agree, I like it black. I think if you paint it matching red it might make your Jeep just look like a giant cherry. If that were my rig I would:

-Ditch the red antennae and replace with a VW or 350Z one. Edit: just noticed that's your CB.
-Paint the front bumper black
-Ditch the d-windows and get some nice Moabs or Icons.
-Color match your mirrors
-But last, and most importantly, thumbs up on a baddass looking rig!
