Gas Milage

I have a 98 xj, with 6.5 inch RC list, 33 inch tires, with 4:10 gears, throttle body spacer, the stock intake manafold from the 98 kept cracking on me so I read that the stock 99 intake manafold was more reliable no idea why, so i got one and put it on my 98 and have had no cracking. With all this I get about 190 miles in town on a full tank. Does that sound about right? I have a 99 xj all stock and i get about 300 miles in town on a tank. Just want to make sure i dont have anything wrong :). What gas milage do you have on your rigs let me kknow.

all terrain tires weigh a little less, and the roof rack creates a little more wind drag. you can replace the mechanical fan with another electric one, and try to cut down on weight a bit and maybe gear the axles a bit lower to avoid bogging on long hills. you're not looking at great mileage in a built xj, but you can improve it....

What gearing would you suggest I change to, i have 4:10 now i have lots of power i can peel out. The gas milage doesnt bother me to much but if it can be better why not :)

With your tire size, 4.56s should help out your in-town mileage. A lot of dakota guys go with 4.56's with even shorter tires than you have and pick up city driving mileage and lose minimal hwy if any.

I have a '99 4.0/auto/4:10 gears/33" KM2s but no roof rack and I get about 14.5 in town. 200 mi when the fuel light comes on. I'd say go to 4.56, that's what I'd like to do.

are you calculating for tire and gear change or has speedo/odo gear been adjusted/replaced for that setup.

you may be getting more or less than that. either way it sounds about right to me. just my .02 tho.

The roof rack costs you a lot of mileage, especially highway. I would recommend removing it you plan on going on a long trip.
