Full bodied MJ on 42.5 boggers

Drove it out under its own power tonight. Brakes, Steering and clutch all working properly. Still need exhaust, cooling system and some other odds and ends. Getting closer though. Still bummed I missed the local Memorial Day ride...

I couldn't find a thermostat housing for an LS that pointed down at a 45 degree angle, soooo... I made one.

Square of 1/4" plate. 3 different hole saws in the drill press. Last one all the way through. THen a piece of leftover header tube.





 
So my starter is only engaging the edge of the teeth, it starts 1 out of 5 times, and getting worse. Apparently I used the wrong flywheel. The 6.0 GTO flywheel is what everyone is using and I assumed it would work. Rookie mistake. I have the early 6.0 with a longer crankshaft... Engine has to come back out. FML. Not even sure if there is a flywheel that will work. Ill keep you posted.
 
In theory a truck flywheel will work, no? Maybe a different starter with a longer throw?
 
Found the right flywheel. McLeod makes one specifically for this application.
'Summit Racing stocks it and it costs $320. Damn I wish I had found this sooner.... Oh ya. Part number is 460537 if it can help anyone else.
 
Finally got to the shop with my new flywheel. I have been putting it off for a year now, Well on top of getting divorced and remodeling my house etc. SO BACK AT IT!!!

Yanked the 6.0 again (hopefully for the last time) and swapped the LS7 Flywheel for the McLeod unit.

All back together, and starts like it should. Now for exhaust, cooling fan/shroud and intake pipeing.
