Fuel Injector Reccomendations

Hello all,

I am thinking about replacing my fuel injectors and was wondering if there was any preference out there? I have a 90 I6 4.0 with 186k. Replaced one last year, but just thinking it might be time to put in new ones.

Thanks,

LTK

Do a search on five oh motor sports. It's where I bought mine last january.

The reason to go with ford injectors is they have 4 holes at the bottom of the injector, Theory being that this helps atomize the fuel a bit better as it goes into your combustion chamber, Can't say it does or it doesnt, most people do the change out when they need injectors so any upgrade from crappy ones is a good upgrade. Good Luck

As apersonal opnion i really like the ford 5.0 liter ininjectors, you can use the same o-rings as AMC (use new ones, don't reuse your old ones). they cured a weeping problem and seem to have a better "seat of the pants" increase in throttle responce.

I used a set from the junkyard from a crown vic and the price was real good. (threw them in the bottom of the tool box).

You won't be disapointed with the upgrade.

The yellow top 18 pound ones. Lots of Fords come with lesser - grey is 14 pounds. fiveo has a good site and are good people to buy from.

+1 for fiveomotorsports. I bought mine (Bosch 19lb. yellow tops) from their Ebay store about a year ago. Shipped and delivered quickly and came with new o-rings. Made a huge difference in the way tho old 4.0 runs.

Are these the right ones? Are any modifications necessary to anything or do they just plug in ( I have a '91 4.0HO)? Where in the power band is the improvement? Do they improve fuel economy at all? I wounldn't imagine they would because they are still the same fuel rate but what do I know. As long as it doesnt make fuel economy worse!

thanks

I bought the "Green Meenies" 20lb. Your should check which year you have. I think Dyno has a chart of injectors vs. year. I know the HO engine uses a higher lb than the 88-90. Like I said in other threads, huge difference in my 90, but I had to use my MAP adjuster to turn down the voltage and go to a hotter plug to pass emissions - 5.45V to 4.65V.

BTW I also have 185K on the clock with Borla Exhaust from the head back with stock K&N.

Unless you need them in a hurry, I'd stick with eBay. I got a set of 8 Ford 19# injectors delivered for about $55. There's plenty listed so you don't need to jump on the first one.

They work great. Haven't noticed a mileage improvement long term, but seem to have much better throttle response. Mine's an '88 4.0 with about 165K.
