Ok I will put this out here first before it goes on flebay.. I have a new detroit true trac for a dana 44 HP front 3.92 and + (4.10, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, ect). I purchased it new 1.5yrs ago for my 44 build, but have decided to go in another direction. I paid $479.00 for it and am asking $375.00 firm - still new in the box part #913A333. So THERE IS NO CONFUSION... This is for a front axle only! local pick up is prefered or shipping is aprox $30 bucks..

I have to ask .. how is it different than a trutrack for a 44 rear application?

(I'm not doubting you in the least - just feeling ignorant! :) )

It spins in the opposite direction......the worm gears will have a different helix-----Hans

No...its the way the t-case is set up with the gears inside. If a gear spins clockwise than the gear next to it will spin counter-clockwise and so on.

So with that in mind if the rear drive shaft spin clockwise and the front spins counter-clockwise and you add a clockwise spinning locker to a counter-clockwise spinning shaft than you'll strip the locker, gears, etc. I maybe worng on this and quote if I am, but i do believe that they have certain lockers that dont matter where inserted due to the way they set the gears up.

A locker is a whole different animal and uses dog clutches not gears (truetrac) or friction plates like LSDs, they usually work in both directions.....so do clutch LSDs----------Hans

That link is cool... I alway wondered about that, now I might have to save the old true trac.. Thanks for the 411....
That was actually for a Rover diff but, I'm sure(?) it should relate to a D44 version as well :dunno: -----Hans
