I can't really tear my Jeep apart until I get another vehicle. I am building a custom front 60, 3 link, 40" tires 3" or so stretch, low pinion, double carden drive shaft. T-case is a 231 until I upgrade to a stak or something. Where should I set my pinion angle? I have it at 13* right now with 6* caster, but I think I need to point it a bet higher. The rig will be street driven using selectable hubs, the front drive shaft won't see a lot of high speeds, mostly slower crawling stuff. I am to the point where I am ready to start burning on my brackets and inner c's. I want to make sure and get the shit right. I know a low pinion aint ideal, I'll run a limit straps to keep the d shaft from binding at full droop. Guys running similer setups: What degree did you point your pinion??

Really the best way is to mock it up under the jeep at ride height and cut/rotate the C's to get the correct castor after the pinion angle is good. If you don't want to cut/rotate then find the hapy medium for street use.
Otherwise if you can't do either of those take your best guess off your current setup and go with it, a LP D60 isn't all bad. No one but yourself is going to be able to tell you the ideal angle for your setup.

just because im wondering:

what has a drivers drop, low pinion, dana 60?

just assuming drivers drop because you say you are using a 231

Its a custom front end, that started life as a rear end.

odd I did the exact opposite, HP60 front end re-tubed for the rear (front HP60 just got dropped of last night to start being built)
bizarro world!

In deed it is. I shopped around for high pinions and almost bought one. I ended up with a pile of parts from a local guy instead. Three 60's, kingpin knucks, dana 70 inner c's and a pair of 6.17. I toyed around with the idea of a 14 bolt front or high pinion 60, but im pretty much set on the 6.17's. I like the final drive ratio I will have in high range. The gear sets are basically what I'm building the axles around. The pinion is a touch on the wimpy side though. I looked into using dana 70 gears in the front and its do able. Screwed up thing is the gear sets run around 400 bones each
