I'm not a fan of the ZJ seats at all. The seat backs are shorter - putting the head rest right at the base of your neck/shoulders. Stupid design. Uncomfortable seat.

'95+ seat bases are different than '94 and earlier. ZJ seats won't work for that kind of swap anyway.

Personally, the best seats ever made for the XJ were from the '87-'94 era Laredos. Deep bolsters and adjustable head rests. :thumbup:

I had an 88 Laredo. It was by far one of the best car seats I have ever sat in. I miss that jeep.

what about other xj seats that will actually lean back. In my 91 the hinge for leaning back is in the middle of my back. it's friggin' annoying and makes sleeping in it on long roadtrips suck!

I turned a set of those into a couch...lol

but as far as seats for the xj i used some honda prelude seats out of a 1991 prelude si, they are a little stiffer than the xj ones and takes only a little fabing to make them work

i hate my xj seats. non adjustable headrest, the top comes basically to the top of my neck. I totally was looking into replacing the seats, but now you guys have me confused. I thought a wj/zj swap was common, and I figured the seats would be taller[w/ adj headrest?].

You can bolt WJ/ZJ seats onto the XJ pedestals.

Is there a write up on this? I took my seat bottoms apart and tried to find a way to make it work but there just isn't for a '94 and older. 95+, sure, but not a '94-.

Ah thats correct, you cannot just bolt on ZJ/WJ seats to a 94-, just the newer XJ seats.

I started another thread asking about using a piece of hollow tube steel and using that to weld it in lieu of the proper plate.

WJ seats are much more comfortable and a bit taller than ZJ. The fronts fit fine, the rears take some caressing in an XJ...

I need to clarify -- I have read of WJ front seats in an XJ, but I have only done a ZJ swap. I own a WJ, and can confirm the front seats are much more comfy than ZJ seats. I have personally done WJ rear seats, and with a little creativity with a sledge and a dremel for clearancing, they work great. I can't confirm that WJ front seats will bolt up to XJ brackets without a little fab work, though. :dunno:

I can. You can bolt WJ seats to 96+ XJ seat pedestals no problemo.

I know if I spent about 10 minutes googling, I could find the answer, but maybe someone knows off the top of their head and with more detail:

I recall it being easier than imagined to swap heated/power seats to a vehicle with non heated/power seats?

Also, NOT trying to start a bidding war just want to get an idea of what to expect- but what's a ballpark range that you guys would pair of front WJ seats would go for?

I travel into the springs and denver every other month for work. Putting heated seats in the xj would build brownie point credit with the wife, which means its totally worth a trip out if I ended up having a budget for them.

The power is easy, the heat not so much, to be honest the WJ heating pads fail pretty often, you would be better off just getting a set of ebay seat heaters and wiring those up.

Otherwise its just power and ground.
