Free to air satellite TV

FTA DVB and Digital, not an expert, but I have used both. I have found that if signal isn't right, picture pixelates. Kinda sucks. Not like good old analog where its just snowy. That was the relation I was trying to make. Digital signals.
Rev,
Any information would be greatly appreciated. I tinker with a DVB Sat PCI card and a HDTV PCI card on the computer. The technology intrigues me. The amount of data that is actually transmitted is amazing. Also encyption technology that the pay satalite companies uses.

Sure shoot me your address and I will be happy to send you some info.

We use a Sencore DTU-234 to monitor and troubleshoot digital TV, including HD. Don't get to worried about seeing occasional macroblocking on off-air digital, as many stations are still "figuring it out". It is not like the old days when you could just look at a TV to see if your signal was good, nowadays you must check your PSIPS, PIDS, and various other crap. Many broadcasters, including some in big cities, just don't get it yet.

Most all Des Moines broadcasters are transmitting digital content including the old analog signals. The software included with my tuner has a great program for monitoring PID's, as far as that, I am still a novice. I do understand the basics.
Thanks
